Like midwifery students of past years, I as well have fallen in love with Yale's GEPN Midwifery program. This question is about the personal statement.
Ive been told that this is the most important part of the application, and that it should tell your story. This was said by Dr. Korevec during the informational, so I'm fairly confident in knowing that's what they want. It should explain why Yale and why nursing. However, whenever someone proofreads my personal statement, they know I'm applying to Yale and say it reads too much like a story and not like a college application essay. It's happened like 3 times and now I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?
thanks!
"Congratulations! The Yale School of Nursing's Admissions Committee has completed its initial screening of your application and would like to interview you for our Graduate Entry Pre-Specialty in Nursing Program NM/WHNP."OMG
woooo!!!! I also have an interview for that program. Good luck, I hope we end up at Yale together!
Has anyone done their interview yet? I did mine earlier this week and it was more of a casual conversation with the typical questions and what not. More relaxed and not as scary as I thought - I think as long as you know what you're saying, you will be fine.
Now we wait until January/February for decisions!! I hope, anyways.

My interview is later today! Glad to hear it wasn't scary for you. I am not nervous, just excited to get it done. I think we are going to hear in mid-January this year. I read through previous forums and it seemed like that is when people heard, even though the deadline was pushed like ours.
Good luck!! What specialty did you interview for?
I got an email as well! How did your interview go?
That makes me feel better. My interview went okay, it could have been better. I definitely don't think I'm a top pick at this point. I thought the specialty change email might have been a result of my interview but it looks like it went out to all WHNP CNM applicants.

I'm sure you did great!! My interview is this week. If you don't mind me asking, did they ask you a lot of questions about your resume/essays?

They didn't ask me about either. I was asked why I choose the specialty and what my goals are. I'd be prepared with as much evidence as to why you are a good candidate for CNM as possible, any direct experience you have is helpful. I don't have any experience with midwifery but I have lots of Women's health, I think that hurt my application.
