Yale GEPN Applicants 2011

Published

It didn't look like there was a thread for 2011 Yale GEPN applicants. Since the application recently opened, I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is starting to work on their application.

Anyone else out there?

I got an interview for Midwifery.

Are there any other West-Coasters considering flying out to the interview on the 20th? How are you making travel arrangements?

I am in the LA area and am planning to fly out because I have never been to that part of the country before, except for NYC, and would love to visit Yale. US Airways has flights to the New Haven airport (code HVN) for a pretty affordable price (from LAX, $145 each way). I guess Hartford would be the most accesible (and cheap!) from more airports, but its 45 minutes away. Decisions, decisions...

I am FNP, so my interview is on the 28th.

Hi Farful-

I also received an invite invitation and am a West-Coaster (California) that is planning on flying out. My interview is for adult psych/mental health and is on the 21st. Where are you from on the West Coast?

Tanya

Just got a Family psych interview at 1230 eastern time. Eek! Good luck all!!

Hi WilliamsRower-

I also got an interview for psych/mental health NP! I cannot find too many prospective psych/mental health students, so it is nice to finally discover one! I am interviewing for the adult track on 1/21. When is your interview date and where are you flying out from?

Just a tip... when I was an undergrad there, getting from Bradley (Hartford airport) to New Haven was always an expensive pain in the behind. I am amazed that flights into New Haven are so cheap and would definitely recommend that you go that route, as you can taxi to downtown, no problem. From Bradley you'd have to rent a car or take a shuttle that I think is at least $50 each way. And don't be turned off from NH in January. It's the worst of the worst weather-wise, unless you count February and March. ;)

Noooooo! My UCSF and Yale interviews are on the same day. Does anyone else have this problem?

I also have an FNP interview at Yale and am planning on flying into Bradley, where there are more frequent flights. I'm from the Springfield, MA area and have always flown into Hartford - it's a great little airport and there are lots of cheap, nonstop flights there with Southwest. While shuttle or car rental may be a bit pricey, there is a Hartford Express bus that runs between Hartford and New Haven for around $5.00. It's a bit of a ride (2 hrs), but might make sense if you're planning to arrive the day before. Check out CTTransit - Connecting the Community for more info.

Thanks for the tip! I am going to fly into New Haven to make things easier. Now what to wear is the next issue...

Haha, I wish! Sorry though, that's a bummer. Hope it works out for you.

No problem, though there's info above that seems useful about taking the bus from Bradley to New Haven. I'm NOT the one to ask about fashion, though, hah! Good luck with your interview!

Got my interview for CNM for January 27th...applied last year but things didn't go as planned in the interview:) extremely excited for this 2nd go at it.

Hi Tanya! I know I rarely ever find psych people! I live in NYC so I'm going to take a train in on the 19th and stay overnight for my interview on the 20th. We should talk and compare notes!!! Where else did you apply?
