Wyoming prereqs?

Published

Hi,

I am trying to get my prereqs out of the way so I can apply to the RN-BSN program. I graduated many moons ago so I need quite a few. I have a couple of questions if anyone can help.

1. US & WY Constitutions- What are the requirements, research papers, or tests? Are any of the tests proctored?

2. Statistics- They have it listed as 4 credits but most community colleges are only 3 credit courses, will they accept a cc 3 credit course?

3. Physical Activity requirement- can that be met in the NURS 3630 course

You won't get a reply from them. I am soooooo frustrated with the UOW. I paid my 40.00 fee for them to evaluate my transcript and give me answers, but have gotten nothing but a hard time. No one will tell me anything. I was told until I get admitted they cannot tell me anything, but that is not what the website says about the 40.00. It is crazy and disjointed at the UOW. Admissions doesn't know what's going on in nursing. Nursing doesn't know what it going on over here. When I did finally get one person to answer 1 question her answer was wrong. My transcript is finally at the school and has been looked at and the nursing school still wont' talk to me until I "get my letter of admittance." Whatever!!!!!! I need to sign up for classes NOW n my town for some prereqs, not on their terms and I need to know what to take. They could tell me if they wanted to.

The UOW needs to get more faculty who are willing to help and that are there to serve the student's needs, not there own. I will not recommend this school if you don't have to go for the $ or other reasons.

If the way the have handled me thus far is any indication of the way their classes are going to be then there is going to be nothing but Hell.:devil:

good grief , this is what i am trying to avoid in a rn to bsn program. why can they not just accept my texas government and us government and be done with it. because this is a online program and people from many states are attending they should accept the equivalent of the wy gov courses.

They are not accepting my oral comm and micro. They actually told me they need a syllabus for oral comm. Hmm, I took the class 3 years ago so I dobut I would have a syllabus sitting around somewhere. I am frustrated also b/c I may have to take 3 classes over and I will be defintely fighting oral comm. b/c I hated that class and I am not trying to do it over.

I am originally from wyo and the first time I went to college (right out of h.s.) i majored (or tried) in speech therapy and took many of the general classes at a CC and then transferred to U.W.

I had so many problems with them transferring classes - I was told so many different things that I became so intimidated and frustrated that I just quit (after 1 semester) and moved to CO and got into a ADN program here.

That probably wasn't the only reason I quit - I hated Laramie (esp the weather) and UW in and of itself is a very cliquish school.

I have heard, as well, that their drop out rate is quite high. Only a fraction of students who start school there actually graduate, if that doesn't tell you something.

I will try to answer your questions. I just got finished with all the classes except for an upper division class and then I will be finished at UWYO.

1. I had previously taken a US History class and it transferred as an elective. I had to take POLS 1100 which is a 1 hour course. They are online unless you take a correspondence class and then it will be proctored tests.

2. They probably will take the 3 hour course if it is equivilent to their Stats 2050 course.

3. The NUR 3630 course should count as your physical activity requirement once you have passed it.

You should contact Susie Hager at shager @uwyo.edu for other questions.

I have been in this program for a while and have taken the classes just a couple at a time. I have been very pleased with the program except for this last semester and they have been screwing up my transcripts also. I have had to call them on a couple of occasions because they kept telling me I needed courses that they had already given me credit for with transfer classes. The program is not as hard as I thought that it would be. A lot of writing papers. I researched a lot of other schools and this one had the lowest tuition and did not require chemistry. The clinical was pretty easy also. I think that you should just jump right in and start taking Patho or Pharmacology. You don't have to be admitted to the nursing program to get started with those classes and they are requirements. I would also suggest that you get the electives and the upper division courses out of the way as soon as possible. Once you have to start writing papers for the nursing classes, it will make it easier not to have the other classes at the same time. Hope this helps.

Call the school where you took the course and request a syllabus. They have them on file, If not your exact course section and teacher it will be a current one, but they should still accept if because it is from the same school and every section of the same course should cover the same material according to the standards pf the school.

Hope this helps:)
