WSSU 2020 ABSN

Published

Just wanted to see if anyone was applying to WSSU ABSN program? Wanted to see where folks were applying/possibly planning to move from, and what is your general work background?

I'm from Winston Salem, with both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Social Work. I've done some work as a social worker in the mental health, hospital case management setting and also on the insurance side of social work. Good luck to everyone on submitting applications!!!

Hey guys! Did you all apply to the university via online? If so I received my admission to the university today.

Nothing yet from the actual program. Hopefully only one more week of agony before we find out our fate of the actual ABSN program. Good Luck to you guys! Lots of prayers and fingers tightly crossed. Have a good weekend!

Hello my name is Alicia. I applied online and I just saw my letter that I was accepted. I would assume that we also got into the nursing program if we have already been accepted into the university. I assume we will get another letter from the actual department with more info and our official letter.

@Alicia Andrews I don't know. I think I read somewhere that just because you're accepted into the University doesn't mean that you will be accepted into the program. I'm not sure where I read that (I could be making that up) but I need that official "Yes" from the ABSN program before I get too excited.

Good Luck though!!!

An admittance to the university is definitely not a guaranteed acceptance to the ABSN program. The university is pretty easy to get into. The ABSN program is not. Anywho, good luck.

I just looked on the website for the nursing program and I see that the DON Evaluation Committee meets on Monday from 9a-11a.

I cant fathom why we had to have applications submitted by 9/1 and then they hold them this long to rule out who gets in and who doesn't. But we will see.

Thanks for your reply. I recently graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a 3.777. Best of luck to you too. My prerequisites are the same. Just doesn’t make sense that they say to apply after and then in the note section it says once admitted to the university they will contact you.

I applied to the ABSN program on 8/1 and to the University on 9/1, just so I would have enough time to submit all documents and needed information.

Yes I did the same and just followed directions. That sucks if they tell you you are in for the second degree term we applied for, take your 50$ and then your not but we will see.

But if not accepted to the ABSN program there is an option to have them move the application to the Traditional program. I think you would take a course in the Spring and apply by the end of January and then find out in the Summer if you can begin the Traditional program

Hey I'm in the current cohort, I remember being just as anxious as you all are now this time last year. The wait feels like a life time.

Unless things have changed I know we all waited until we were accepted into the the program before we applied for the school. Acceptance to the university does not guarantee direct acceptance into the program.

Let me know if you have any other question. Good Luck :)

Thanks @Kei2nurse I realized but just was confused. Thanks for your kind words and super excited to find out this will be my third try. I applied at UNCC in undergrad twice with a 3.8 and didn’t get it so I’m hoping a third time is a charm.

@Kei2nurse has your cohort heard anything about the incoming cohort at all? Such as when we may possibly find out?
