WSSU 2020 ABSN

Published

Just wanted to see if anyone was applying to WSSU ABSN program? Wanted to see where folks were applying/possibly planning to move from, and what is your general work background?

I'm from Winston Salem, with both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Social Work. I've done some work as a social worker in the mental health, hospital case management setting and also on the insurance side of social work. Good luck to everyone on submitting applications!!!

@BRich924 @kherrin20 @Linaya M I totally understand the career change. I had considered getting a nursing degree some years back and placed it on the back burner, and now here I am. Good Luck to all of you and hopefully we will all hear some good news.

As it relates to the certified mail information, Im not sure how you would find out if the packet was received or not. Possibly call the program later this week, but then they may tell you there are too many packets to sort through. If that doesn't work possibly contact the post office or whatever service carrier you utilized for sending the application.

Hey guys. I recently found out about this website but i submitted an application as well .

@Janell16 awesome. Good luck to you

Does anyone know when we are supposed to start hearing back?!

I’ve heard by mid-October

Mid October is when past cohorts have typically heard back. The waiting is the awful ?

I try not to think about it or stress about it too much.

Same @queentutt28 . I’m so nervous

@Janell16 I don’t think I’m super nervous yet. Now come about the second week of October I’ll be refreshing my email 1000 times a day ?

The waiting game is not fun. I'm trying my best not to think about it lol

Hey! I also applied to the ABSN program but I am sooo nervous because my GPA is a little on the low side. That has been my major struggle with trying to get into a ABSN program

I'm sure you'll be fine! Good luck!

I work with a young lady that did the traditional program at WSSU and she gotten and said she had the 2.6 or above to meet the criteria but with at least one of her pre-requisite courses she had a C and got into the program.

I would assume they focus more on the pre-requisite courses more so than make a big stink on the undergraduate GPA.

Fingers crossed! Hopefully we will all know our fate within the next two weeks.
