BEACON is... ineresting. The thing about it is that it's a year shorter than the traditional program (5 quarters instead of 9), so everything moves REALLY FAST. I started on the 5th, had 2 days of lecture, then went to "Skills Boot Camp" for two days and got checked off on everything from meds (PO, IM, SQ, ID, IV), catheters, enemas, suctioning, NG tubes, PPE, vitals, wound care, and a few other things. The following week I had 3 days of lecture and started clinicals at Good Sam. Tomorrow (in week 3) is my first exam, and I have an exam a week for the rest of the quarter.
It is FAST, but the instructors are all great so far. There are 24 of us in the group and we all have the same schedule, so we see each other A LOT, which has been nice to get to know everybody and form study groups.
Congrats on graduation, Ally! Where're you working now?
Hi! Okay to give a little background... I am 26 years old. I am a non-traditional student at WSU. I already did 4 years at UC in Communications right out of high school but did not finish my degree. Now I am back in school trying to get into nursing. I am finishing up my pre-req's right now and will apply into the official program for the fall. I am going to take organic chem next quarter. Any insite on professors or the class would be greatly appriciated. I still have to take Microbiology and ANT 201 before I can apply for the fall. I could definitely use some support and friends along the way! Feel free to drop me a line. Landis.20
Congrats to you both! I just graduated from WSU in June! The program is tough, but you will make it!! Good Luck!! :)

I just started bridging LPN to RN at Sinclair (Dayton). I've lucked out so far but did discover a website you may find helpful.....

After reading about what other students think about the nursing and other professors, plan on seriously utilizing this site for the rest of my schooling.
Good luck! (from another non-traditional student)
