  1. During my med-surg clinical an RN that I was watching went into a geriatric patients room who was just ordered new heart medication....dig. I believe and she explained to him what it was with her heavy oriental accent. The patient was hard of hearing and said he wasnt taking anymore pills. The nurse then yelled "but it for your heart!", the patient exclaimed he wasnt taking any damn pills and the nurse again yelled "but it for your heart". This happened three or four times until another nurse came in and explained to the patient what it was. I couldnt believe how the nurse handled that situation....I was simply shocked and steered clear of that nurse the rest of the day.
  2. Just go in being as neutral as possible and enjoy your time with them. Use as much therapeutic communication as you can without making yourself uncomfortable. If you have a difficult patient remember safety and report to your RN. They will advise you on what is best to do.
  3. Wow how could I resist all these women 10:1 ratio!! I even promised myself before going into nursing school I would never date anyone from the program......so much for promises. I ended up dating a great girl for a year of my school and now we no longer date but still are friends. Be careful of what you do in nursing school because you'll be with the same peeps for about 2 years.
  4. Not hard or difficult, just tedious and busy at times. Tests I can handle all day, but when I have to write some ridiculous 15 page paper on a topic I feel no connection to I tend to procrastinate till the day before and stress out spending all day on my computer writing it.
  5. Honestly.....I get some people together from the program and go out a have a few drinks. Nursing school is busy and hard but you must find a little down time here and there and enjoy life.
  6. Wow same problem here. I just joke about it mostly and then go out to my car and listen to some Metallica and slam some beers j/k. But seriously it can be kinda weird sometimes.

  8. Nursing is one of the most challenging undergraduate degrees out there and it does take alot of work. It is a very achievable goal however and just remind yourself why you are doing it each day. It has its ups and downs just hang in there. Make yourself some close friends in the program and form a good study group and use each other throughout the program, good luck!
  9. I would definitely go for the RN if possible. It sounds like you need to do some more thinking on which route you will be able to take and talk it over with your significant other. Once you decide dont second guess yourself just be proud of what your doing and do your best. Either way your entering a great career and I wish you luck!
  10. Nursing is one of the most challenging undergraduate degrees out there so be prepared to put in some work. It is definitely worth it in the end and when you get some clinical experience under your belt you feel like you accomplish something everday. Im currently a senior in a BSN program which is a bachelor of science in nursing but they have other programs like LPN, ADN and various other avenues to become a nurse. Though if you can go for the BSN. You only need your nursing degree to get a job and you must pass the NCLEX which is a big exam to get your license to practice. Good luck!
  11. Im a senior currently, will graduate in June...thank God. Good luck to you guys! study groups and reliable people are indispensable during nursing school find some!
