I will be receiving my ATT the day before my baby's due date. Would you take the exam?
well, the other thing to consider is that if you don't take the test now while still pregnant you will take it when you have your baby, don't get enough sleep and are in a totally different mind-set because you will be a brand-new mom. I would try to squeeze the test in before giving birth. You want to enjoy the time with your baby and not have to worry about test questions. But that's just me and I don't know how well prepared you are. Good Luck with everything and a speedy delivery!
She won't get it till her due date... And we all know there is a slim chance of getting in the next day
I got my att on Jan 26. In my area there are about 15 different locations within an hour of my house. There was one spot for Jan 27, 2 for mid-feb, and the rest in March. The chances of you getting a spot right away is slim.
I also wouldn't risk it...pick a date 4-6 weeks past your due date.
Babies don't follow a schedule. Your baby could arrive early or late. Both I and my cousin had our first babies 1 month early. You could end up getting your ATT after your baby arrives.
If I was in your shoes, I would figure out the latest possible day to take the NCLEX, then schedule the exam around then. That will give you time to have your baby, recover, and be really ready for the NCLEX.
I wasn't pregnant when I took the NCLEX, but I wanted to take it on a day I was already off of work, and I didn't want to take it early in the morning. I had 45 days from the ATT to take the test, and I scheduled it for day 42. I passed on the first time.
I have no experience with the NCLEX as I am just a student, but I do have experience with having a baby. My advice is take it! After you have a baby the last thing you would want to do is worry about taking the NCLEX. Your brain is just dead for a month after having your baby. The sleepless nights, and transitioning into having a child, or another child (if this is not your first) is a process. Plus, if it is your first it is very likely you will deliver past your due date. Ultimately, the choice has to be right for you. Do what is in your heart. And congrats on your pregnancy, it is such a beautiful thing!
Honestly I would go a head and take it now. First babies are typically late. If you put it off until after the baby is born you will be dealing with all the stressors of a new baby and the postpartum goodness that comes with it. Take it now while all the info is fresh in your head. Maybe the stress of the exam will jump start you and send you into labor! [emoji16] seriously though you will be so overwhelmed with a new baby you NCLEX will be the last thing you want to worry about. Make sure though that you are ready for the test. If you need more time to review or take a prep course then you should do that first.
