I LOVE motorycles. But I also know many people see them as death traps. Including my mother. My father owns a motorcycle. Heck he's been riding since before I was born. But that doesn't change her view of them lol
Either way, I was wondering since a lot of you work in hospitals, if it has changed your view of motorcycles. In a more negative way.
Which is funny because I was going down the road once and I saw this male nurse on a sports bike, and not only was he not wearing boots, but he was wearing crocs! Those things will fly right off if you crash. And how did I know he was a nurse? He was wearing scrubs! lol at least he had a helmet.

Just because he was wearing scrubs doesn't mean he was a nurse-could have been housekeeping...
What a fantastic thread, I love my motorcycle and have ridden for the last 12 years.
I've worked in ITU and EU and have seen the worse of it, does it put me off
Nah, in fact last year I spent 3 weeks touring Europe on it, an experience you just can't get in a car.
I'm often asked why in work, my response....
I think if you have to ask, you just don't get it,
If you get it then you really don't have to ask
I ride (in the UK) all year round and still love it, when it snows I just put more layers on, slow up and giggle quite a bit
I've now got a 2 week old BMW F800 GS called Delilah and she's lovely
I just stopped at a bike accident...small car pulled in front of much faster crotch rocket on the highway. The bike hit the rear of the car and the passenger was propelled into and through the rear window and into the interior of the car.
Both young persons on the bike were wearing helmets with jeans and "wife beater" type tops. Both were walkie talkies after the accident but had some significant although non life threatening soft tissue owies.
I recently watched a guy in a big 4x4 pickup truck speed through a red light intersection in metro Detroit...had I not been paying attention he would have T-boned me driver's side...bottom line is that some people are NOT PAYING ATTENTION and we have to protect ourselves.
That does not mean, in my mind, that we cannot or should not ride motocycles...it means that we must use good sense and be vigilante for the idiots...everyday is a crap shoot anyway...

That's it exactly!! There's just something about riding that can't be explained but has to be experienced. I don't drive but my hubby does and I sit back and enjoy the ride.
Your bike is a cool-looking bike. I'm more of a touring kind of gal....like the Kawasaki Vulcan. Love it!
Nope----I wholeheartedly believe in organ donation but I'm not ready to be a donor yet!! My husband has one and although he is extremely cautious, his bike hit a patch of wet leaves a few years ago, and he ended up with fractured clavicles, multiple ribs, and left humerus. He's still riding......and I make sure the life insurance policies are current......
I work ICU and am planning to get an Aprilia 300-500 cc scooter this year and possibly a Aprilia Shiver motorcycle next year. I've never ridden before, but I am a road (bi-)cyclist and have been for a while. I know the risks... my dad and uncle were nearly killed in motorcycle accidents back in the day.
I hit 50-60 mph on some of the downhills here in the Hill Country while cycling, and 20-30 is no problem on flat land. Can't see how outcomes of an accident would be different at those kinds of speeds whether bike or motorcycle... and people die in cars, too. Life is messy. It is what it is.

I think the law should make weekends for motorcycles only. I hate those cagers that do not pay attention.
