who is worth 842 RN's???

I was reading about slalries of the sport figures in America. it said that the new soccer recruit from England, David Beckman's yearly salary would pay for 842 RN's??? WOW!!!!! What do you think of that? Put them at the bedside and save some lives!!!! This is incredible to me.

I was wondering what you all thought??? Or put teachers in the classrooms, etc,etc. I like sports, but Wow, where have our priorities gone????

There are plenty of people who can learn to be a teacher.

Can - but do they? I think the critical shortage of nurses and teachers is related to salary -- and the working conditions of course. Which are due to the critical shortages, etc...

ABSTu...LOOT..ly...do away with sport. I have been thinking that for 45 years. Since kindergarden. I loved tag football all summer before kindergarden and played everyday. School started and I wore a dress on the first day of kindergarden. Suddenly I was not allowed to play in any more football games (felt like Rudolf the red nosed raindeer). Come to find out they thought I was a boy before school started....I guess these traumatic experiences of childhood just never fully quit effecting your behavior as an adult.

I truly don't begrudge sports figures and celebrities their income. They get it because they are bringing in revenue, they entertain, and they tend to have a short career. Besides, I like looking at David Beckham. ;-)

I DO begrudge CEOs making obscene salaries while their workers are laid off and their companies wreak havoc with society or the environment or both.

In 2005, William McGuire, CEO of United Health Care, made $125 million. THAT is not right. United Health care is trying to squeeze health care providers and hospitals. Certain hospitals in my area have chosen to not be in United's network.

Hey! I read that Bill Gates' home is worth $125 million. Just think how many nurses that would pay for!!!

Probably many - but it's immaterial - HE earned the money and has the right to do what he wants with it.

The type of society that would take money from the wealthy to give to the poor - also known as wealth re-distribution - is a socialist society, which has it's roots in Marxism - and DOES NOT WORK!

Our society is already well on it's way to sliding into that pit because too many people have not been paying attention! It's when someone looks at YOU someday and says "They have more than I have - it's not fair - give me what they have." And the government does, through higher and higher taxes, and ever increasing social programs.

As for the athletes - they get what they get - I don't contribute in any way to it, because I can't abide any of it, but as someone said, they must provide enough entertainment for enough people to make it worth while.
