Worried my Ultrascope is too "cute"

Thought I'd ask for a little input --

I'd heard about Ultrascopes and really wanted one, so I ordered mine last summer, as a reward for getting to my last year of NS. I didn't use it this year in clinicals because I was afraid I'd lose it, etc. Now I'm weeks away from graduation and will probably be working on a telemetry floor at my local hospital. I am so excited but now when I look at my brand-new Ultrascope, I wonder if I might have designed a more conservative one for myself. I am a very "girly girl" who loves pink, etc., so mine has hot pink tubing and a green head covered with colorful flowers. It's beautiful to me but I wonder if it might be a mistake for a new grad who hopes to be taken seriously by my colleagues and trusted by my patients.

I'll be an older new nurse but don't want to look silly. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I love my maxiscope. Blaze orange and got pink. Easy to spot but don't leave it anywhere, they still walk off, even when personalized.

It's our right to look beautiful and stethoscopes are one of our personal things so i love to use it regardless of color ;)

Your patients will probably love it. :)

If it makes you happy to look at, and you can handle occasional teasing, keep it. I would. I love pink and girly stuff, and anyone who doesn't can kiss it lol

I have one and had my name engraved on it! you can do this if you buy from their website, with or without a logo it was the same $15 I believe. The only parts that are still maxiscope on mine are the chestpiece and the orange tubing. The diaphragm was defective on arrival and had a bulge so it would "pop" in and out when you push on it. I immediately ordered a warranty replacement on their website and this time they sent the Ultrascope diaphragm which looks like the transparent mesh reinforced diaphragm that you would find on a Littmann or similar. The Maxiscope diaphragm is just a piece of opaque white plastic, they also crimp the ear tubes which i felt was pretty poor workmanship and design. It definitely sounds better with the new diaphragm.

The uniqueness will help prevent it from getting stolen or lost.

Use it. You paid for it. As long as you are a good nurse no one will care how cute you look. I have bright scrubs, pink everything. Do my makeup nice- well more than normal, I need to look alive after 12 hours lol and never have I gotten anything that I'm a bad nurse. I've only been working over a year and since the beginning I've always had my style.

Use it and love it! And yes it will be harder to lose!!!!

I like that, it brightens our patients day!!!! I love when they compliment my scrubs too. Some don't have visitors so we are all they say. It's nice for them to see so much color and excitement!!
