working in jacksonville

hi floridians

im an rn and thinking of moving to jacksonville.can you suggest any good hospitals,acute or rehab.And good areas to live.Any info would be appreciated.

I think its more because of her specialty. She is a NICU/L&D nurse, and at least at Baptist someone has to die before there is an opening in that unit. :uhoh3:

ooh wow, didn't notice that. I know Orange Park had an L&D position available a lil while back. But it was nights. I'll keep my eyes on the look out!

Did you get the job at Shands? Shands is my first choice for a job (then Wolfsons and Baptist South. I have lots of OB/NICU experience and some telemetry. So I have applied for 15 positions in NICU, MB, and some other areas like pre admission testing, special procedures, endo etc... I am willing to try something new. Outside of the hospital, I would love a position at North Florida OBGYN.

Maybe I should have someone look at my resume. This is the first one I have had to make in 16 yrs. Maybe it isnt up to par.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

St Vincents was hiring not too long ago as well. They have a nice L&D unit. I know it isn't in your choices but it might be worth a look.

Also, keep in mind... the Baby-Boomers are getting ready to retire soon and there are a ton in the healthcare field. :)

Are you the same misswhitney that used to work at Publix, then worked at Specialty, and you are now at Shands? You moved up fast. I'm not a stalker not at all. I just like reading people's post from their nursing days to the employment world. And I see FLMom is working now too. I hope to be a nurse one day if I can find financial assistance. I'll keep plugging away until that day comes.

Haha, yes that's me! You sure you aren't stalking me? You sure do know a lot about me! Can you believe I am a charge nurse now? I feel like I was just a student! I used Worksource and was fresh out of high school so I had Bright Future's as well. FSCJ gave me a bunch of grants/scholarships throughout the nursing program. There is always a way! Keep me updated on how you do!
