Has anyone worked full-time and attend the LVN program full-time? How did you do?

Hi, Penny!

I'm actually going to attempt this soon as well, if I pass my PAX exam. What field are you working in right now?

Pretty much, from my understanding is that the only thing you'll have time for is school, work and studying... Nothing else. If you remain focused, your job is understanding and willing to help you while in school, and you're dedicated, I don't really see a problem. We all have to make a living somehow, not everyone has the luxury of staying home and not working through college. I'm hoping to see how everyone else did as well. Good luck!

Hi leeymarina!

I'm a secretary for an Architecture Firm. I work 32 hours a week and off Fridays.. So hopefully I'll get thru the program no problems. *fingers cross* I chose this particular school so that I am able to still work and go to school. I don't know how I would survive with 2 boys and not working. If I had the luxury to not work, that would be great!! But that's not even an option for me. Thank you for you response. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AS WELL!!! :nurse:

I totally understand! Wow, that's amazing you have two boys and you're going back to school!! So many props for you!!! Is your job supportive of you? I'm working as a medical assistant right now so my doc is really understanding and helpful. I would research volunteer work as much as you can. because it'll look excellent on your resume when you complete school (:

That is great you're working as a Medical Assistant! .. I actually went through the Medical Assistant program in and finished in 2003. I worked for a few months only and quit. It wasn't paying enough at the time and I just had a baby. Now I really hoped that I should've stayed in the Medical Field.

I've been in school since 2009 doing Pre-regs for the RN program. I was trying to get into the BSN at National University but that didn't happen. The TEAS test I needed an 80% to get in. So I am starting from the bottom up!. One step at a time. =) I'm not sure about my job. I love it here. But I will have to let them know soon that I will need to leave early for school.. I work 8-5p and school is 5-10pm. I was thinking about volunteering at the hospital but I'm not sure how it will work since I'm already working Full-time and school full-time. Maybe I can do on the weekends.

I'm doing it now and I'm doing well so far, but I'm behind on reading for class. Just started in January. Ask me in May and let's see if I passed.

Thank you Red! Good Luck! =)

I work in LTC as a CMA and swapped my Monday-Friday day shift schedule for weekend doubles (16 hours on Saturday and Sunday) and then in school during the week. I have 2 kids (and a husband :) ) but waited for the kids to be able to care for themselves (they're 11 & 7). Its hard, no sleeping in EVER, but it won't last forever and I expected hard work.

So far so good for me. If you want it bad enough you can make it work!

Good luck!

Thank you Dondie! I was getting a lil nervous about working and school but I think I can do it. My boys are 12 and 14. I feel bad to be gone all day at work then school right after.

Oh yeah me too. I work 3 NOC 12s a week, and going to school in between....my poor kids hardly ever see me and I hate that. Especially as my oldest is in her last semester of high school and will move out for college in August! Now that soccer season is over things will be less chaotic and hopefully we'll have more time, and I put in PTO for Spring Break because we all have the same week off.

It sucks but I figure we can do anything for one year and the benefits will be apparent quickly once I'm done. Thankfully I have an outstanding husband who is picking up the slack and totally supportive.

It is doable. When I was studying to be an RN I worked 32-40 hours a week as an LPN. I usually did 2 double shifts on weekends, but on rare occasions I also worked an extra shift during the week. I did well enough to earn a scholarship, but I had no social life. It was worth it.

Good Morning Red!

My son plays in a basketball league and this season he will have to sit out. There's a lot of traveling with the team so that was something we had to talk about. I feel bad but we all have to make a sacrifice. Once I'm done next year he can play all the basketball he wants.
