Any advice on getting a RN job with the County of Los Angeles? Thanks for any input on securing a county job.

Hey guys, I have a question. I had an interview with LAC+USC and received a letter that I passed the oral exam. I read in the letter that they are going to contact me if positions open up. I am a new grad RN. Have you been in my situation? How long does it take until they call you? Do we have another interview after the oral interview or this is it? Please share your experience with me..thank you.

I had my interview a couple of weeks ago and also received that same letter. After my interview the recruiter told me that once I had that letter in hand, I could start calling the various LAC nurse recruiters and inquiring about whether or not they had any openings for a RN I. She recommended calling at least once every 30 days.

Although the letter says that they'll contact us if positions open up, I prefer to be proactive and have called them myself. I believe the LAC eligibility list has over 500 people on it so it probably takes awhile for one's name to move up on the list.

Then there's also the issue about the LA County budget so I'm not quite sure if they'll be taking any RN I's before the expiration date on the letters they have sent out.

Oh and if any openings do pop up, I'm pretty sure that there's at least one more interview with a Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse of those unit(s).

Hope this helps.

Girl84 or Janbug....

im really trying hard to get an interview at olive view. i applied in jan and ive been talking to the nurse recruiter since then! and i haven't heard anything. She told me to call every 2 weeks, which i have been doing since Feb and theyre saying nothings available at the moment. they never mentioned anything about a freeze.

but anyways. what does the oral exam consist of??? im hearing different things about this initial interview. Some are saying that its oral interview asking questions about 'what would u do in this situation' kinda thing and others are saying that its a paper/pencil exam.

I read in L.A.Times that they're closing all the vacant positions. I was scheduled to an oral interview, and they cancelled my appointment. No good news so far.

i have an exam this coming week. this may be a silly question. but for the medication exam, can we use a calculator (ex: lbs to kg) ? i can do the math but using a calculator is so much faster lol

no you cannot use a calculator
