Do you think this is doable? Work 17 hrs per week:
Semester 1: 16 credits
Semester 2: 14 credits
Semester 3: 14 credits
Semester 4: 8 credits

I think so, but it depends on you. Some people can handle both, some cannot. Personally I do better when I have work and school because it drives me, when I don't feel that extra push and stress I slack off. I know people that can't handle working at all during school.

I work 20 hours every 2 weeks and go to school full-time. It works for me but everyone is different. I HAVE to work to pay bills, but not everyone does.
Good luck :)

It all depends on how you can cope with stress, and very little sleep Make sure you leave time to study!
Also, does your work give you 8 hour shifts, or can they lessen them? I am only going to be able to work on weekends, because my work shifts are 8.75 hours long, and my shifts are 3:30-11:45PM, whereas my school schedule is full time, 7:30AM-11:45... Which means no time for work!! Good luck to you, Just don't overwork yourself! It won't be worth it in the end.
Actually Semester 2 & 3 are only 12 credits :)
I will work 16 hours EOW as a CNA, and the other 18 hours are 4-8 PM as a Dietary Aide

I will work 72 hours a weekend EOW. Sounds like a lot (and it is!) but I work at a family care home. My work is minimal and my free time is maximal so I will get to study a lot.
But, 17 hours should be doable for most anyone.

72 hrs a weekend?? Do you mean week? You work 24 hours every other weekend...?
No, I work 72 hours a weekend. I go in at 8 Friday morning and I get off at 8 Monday morning.
I sleep at night, etc.

And they pay you to sleep?? Sounds like a awesome job to have while in nrsg school!
Yep, that's why I took it. It doesn't pay very well considering the number of hours BUT I figure if I worked somewhere else, I would have to work twice as much to make the same amount. And since I work every other weekend, I have some free weekend time with my family.

i agree with saying that it depends on how much YOU think you can handle. my first semester of nursing i didn't work at all. then the second semester i worked one day a week. now 3rd semester im going to work again one day a week. just see how it goes for the first month of school working 17 hours a week and if you realize it's too much, cut it down. :)
Yes it definitely depends on the person. I know people who can work 2 jobs, go to school, care for a family, etc, etc, etc and never get a day off or a chance to relax.
I cannot do that. I must have some time to myself to relax and decompress.
