I work full time on 12 hour shifts (2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off over two weeks and etc...one week I work 60 hours, the next week, only 24 hours) and I have done this shift for over 13 yrs. I'm wondering if nursing school is a reality with this type of job. Flexibility in my job remains to be seen, but then there's always the night shift. Currently I work day shift. I will say, I earned a bachelor's degree in 2.5 years (graduated a year ago) while working and raising my family, but then, it wasn't nursing school. From that experience, I'm up for the challenge. I'm concerned with clinicals. Can I do nursing school while working full-time? Are clinicals always the same day of the week (like every Monday or every Wednesday)? Are they always 8 hours long?

I work 12-hr shifts and I'll be attending nursing school in a few weeks. I tend to group my work days as close as I can so I can have more days off. My clinical is only one day a week for 8 hours (for the 1st semester). Since we'll be at a nursing home, I don't have to come in the day before to get report on the patient. I believe that'll be later in the semester, so I'm leaving the day before clinical open just in case I need extra study time or something.
