Wondering about working for Davita Dialysis

Nurses Recovery

Published

Hello all....

I have been attempting to gain some sort of employment while I wait out my situation with the BON. Due to my diverting meds from work, I was charged with one felony count for "Theft of Drugs" a forth degree felony. I qualified for a Treatment in Lieu of conviction program, so no "conviction" of a felony shows on a background check. However, it does show a pending felony case that is unresolved. This will be removed once I finish my probation, but that will be at least 9 months from now.

I have applied for several positions at Davita, and have gotten two calls from two different offices. Both conversations were with the hiring manager and both seemed very interested in me. I have interviews set up with both offices.

I know that Dialysis seems to be recovery friendly, but what about the felony charge? Do they have the option of hiring despite that, or since they are such a big company, do they have a policy of not hiring anyone with a felony issue? Should I just give up the idea of working there at all? Thanks for any input you may have for me.

So if i apply for a patient care tchnician and if they do background check is my nursing license information going to show or does it only show criminal record?

From what i read nurses can work in dialysis with drug related disciplinary acrion so i think uou might be okay.

No, a background check will not show your nursing board order- that will only show if they look you up on the nursing board site - the licensure verification info.

Background checks show arrests and convictions .

What is your board order? I am so nervous about my case coming up. But God has brought me this far so I'm not giving up!

Good luck! Keep me posted.

What state are you in?

Hi tiffpritRn

Im sorry for a late response. i kept checking my last response and didnt see any more post and didnt realize there was the next page. Thank you for the information. I am in texas, the worst place to work as a nurse. Ive made the biggest mistake of moving to texas. I have a warning with stip. I tried to find a job working in the laboratory and the company usually use the third party background check company and even though lab work has nothing to do with nursing when they do backgroumd check they pull out the nursing license stilulation. So im afraid im going to have a same problem with the davita or fresnius. Do you know if davita use third party background check company

Your situation is very weird. Is the Bon investigating now? Do you have a lawyer who can help you? I hope everything is going to be okay with you because ive been through h.

Currently going through my treatment in lieu in Ohio right now. Cannot find Rn work anywhere. Discouraged beyond belief. How long after finishing treatment in lieu before you can get it expunged?

Mizchelle,RN- I DESPERATELY would like to talk to you. Our stories are crazy similar and I have some questions. You are probably one of the few who can help me right now. Please please please try and find it in your heart to contact me [email protected]. Please contact me

I also work for fresenius in MS and I do have a felony conviction and am currently working under restrictions. They hired me this way so I bet they will keep you especially if your a good nurse 😀

Thank you so much. This is very encouraging ♥️

Hi , how is the recovery program in MS? I should hear from the BON soon. I've been working in dialysis a year now. I went to rehab in Nov 2105 for alcohol and opiate addiction , but I was stupid and didn't self report there, I called the BON when I got back home 60 days later and self reported What can you tell me about the recovery program . Thanks!

Hi All,

I need some advice, here's my story: I've kept my nursing license active for 37 years, I did 14 years of patient care/hospital nursing, before leaping into Clinical Research as a Clinical Research Associate for the past 22 years. I wanted to return to nursing, I just completed an RN Refresher Course. In 2011 got a DWI, served 2 years probation, community service, paid a fine. I self-reported to TPAPN, since I was getting back into Nursing. Now I am applying for RN positions and getting rejections, sorry we decided to pursue other candidates, blah, blah, blah. I sense I am being discriminated against due to age, TPAPN and being out of patient care for 20 years. I've even applied for several Nurse Residency programs, some are only for Graduate Nurses and some are for experienced and graduate. I feel this may be the best avenue for locating a job. I will have to avoid Narcotics administration for the first 6 months of employment. My License is considered unrestricted. Any thought or ideas, has anyone else tried to re-enter nursing after raising their children for example.

Yes, they use a third party agency.
