Anyone else apply for February 2016 start date?
Last update to this case was on September 2015. The court ruled in favor of the school and this case was finally dismissed after many hearings. Wolford has added a very detailed sim lab, that I was impressed with. They have also renovated their website recently. Many good things favoring Wolford at these times.
I spoke to the COA and they stated that if a program decides to shut down voluntarily or involuntarily, the program is mandated to provide a written plan for the current students to finish a program and take boards. Everyone is different and that's understandable. I am willing to leave the negativity to rest, focus on working hard and let faith decides the future. I know 6 wonderful CRNAs around the US that graduated from Wolford, that are working in great environments and love their jobs. I'll take the chance.
I was considering applying here, but after doing research it just seems too sketchy. If I did it would be after the COA visit next October if the program isn't shut down before then, and that's only if I wasn't accepted into any other schools.
People say the paper work has been submitted for SACS accreditation. What's the hold up? I think attending this school a couple of years ago may have been worth it, but it's just too risky now.
The legal language makes me skeptical. Let's say that worst case scenario, accreditation is pulled before you complete the program. Let's then say that they provide you with their "written" teach-out plan. Does that mean that this "written" teach-out plan will come to fruition? Who knows? Is this "written" teach-out plan a legally binding document ensures students' completion, or is it more of a suggestion that protects them legally since they can legally state that they did their best to accommodate matriculating students by meeting the requirement of providing said written teach-out plan? This "written" teach-out plan would still have to be approved by whoever is carrying out the teach-out plan,e.g.a different school, hospital, or whoever. Is a written teach-out plan any good if nobody is willing to carry out the plan? Legally, it sounds like they would still be protected even if students didn't finish because they provided students with a "written" teach-out plan, even they knew that the plan would never come to fruition. If the COA said, "We will let all students finish, plain and simple" then I would be a little more willing to attend.
What if they count their losses and don't provide a teach-out plan? Sure, you can sue, but you still have the debt accruing with interest from student loans while you wait for a settlement, IF you win. Legally it's a slippery slope. Wolford can claim that matriculating students were well aware of their lack of regional accreditation along with the new COA requirement of regional accreditation. Students can then point to the teach-out plan, and then it would depend on whether or not the COA backs students up. The COA states that they will assist with the teach-out plan to the best of their ability. They can't force a different school to accommodate Wolford's students. Although, it would be a potential cash cow for a willing and able CRNA mill.
What does being a student who is part of a teach-out plan include? Transferring to a different school? starting a new curriculum? Moving to a different state-->Who knows? Is there a possibility that students who matriculate are allowed to finish? Sure, anything can happen. To those of you who do attend, my hats off to you. You have more huevos than I do.
My questions are: What does a teach-out plan entail exactly (transferring schools most likely)? Who would most likely be willing to accept more students (probably private stand-alone CRNA programs who reap the benefits financially)? Would your graduating degree be from Wolford of the school who provided the teach-out plan?
On a side note, Mountain State SRNAs had their accreditation pulled back in 2011. I wonder how the teach-out plan worked for them. I do know that a lot of students are just now being reimbursed if you google it.

Morrzach, did you just receive a letter in the mail as your invitation? I also submitted my application a while back and am waiting to hear for an interview.
