Why are so many people today shunning real medicine, vaccines etc for hoaxes and gimmicks like essential oils, weight loss powders, etc? Any ideas why so many are turning away from actual medicine?
Right, and we have discovered that gravity isn’t what keeps planets in orbit, but we are constantly moving closer to the truth. We have recently discovered quarks, when previously it was thought protons neutrons and electrons were the smallest particle.
My point is science is advancing. In what ways have say astrology advanced recently?

If you're THAT fascinated by astrology...Google is free. I personally don't partake.

The shark and cockroach have not evolved since long ago either. If there are large groups who follow it there are reasons. I don't follow it either because I don't believe it. But I don't mock those who do.
I’m not mocking them. I’m totally curious. Well I mock those who judge, like the old crone at school today, but she had it coming. I don’t mock kindhearted people who have different views. I’m glad that I learned there are still witches etc still to this day. I love learning new things.
Spells are just prayers with props. You can use a prayer rug like the Muslims, or you can use rosary beads like Catholics, or you can use a candle. Or anything. Prayers (and spells) do not alter the laws of physics. Nor are they a substitute for what you can do on a mundane level. Don't pray for peace and then engage is petty squabbles with people, don't pray for prosperity and then run up your credit card, don't pray for love and then be receptive to whatever loser shows up.
Prayers (and spells) are just a way of declaring an intention or receptivity to a particular outcome. Like prayers, spells come with no guarantee. Both are really a way to take yourself out of your materialistic mundane world and connect to something deeper in yourself. Not unlike meditation, which has been scientifically studied and found to have encouraging benefits.
Science and spirituality (of all forms) are not mutually exclusive unless you're very young, immature and still engaged in polarized thinking. Achieving wisdom in life often requires navigating between the two and being aware of where they might intersect.
Although I'm not Christian, there is a passage in the Bible I like: "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and render unto God that which is God's". Only you can decide if that holds any meaning for you.

I'll admit I haven't read quite a bit of this thread. But it is so true that most things are not mutually exclusive. A big life lesson I've learned is that 99.9% of things are not black or white; they are shades of grey.

It can take years or decades to develop a spiritual practice and even then it can be constantly evolving. You keep trying to boil things down into neat little pigeon holes and sound bites. It saves your brain the trouble of having to ponder things and figure them out for yourself, but you cheat yourself out of developing your own character and intellect.
If you are to become a nurse, you will be better off if you can do more than just absorb and regurgitate subject matter. Working toward a deeper understanding of all things will work in your favour as time goes on.

If we didn’t use it, their deaths wouldn’t have helped anyone. At least some good came of it.
