I been hearing this debate off and on for a long time about how if Obama gets universal healthcare to go ( if he gets elected of course)though in the US that nursing pay will be cut dramatically. I would think this has to do with the fact that we would all be working for the government and that there will no longer be competition. There are many people in my nursing class that said they will leave nursing if thats the case. I also talked to several doctors that said the same thing about medicine in general. Im just curious if anyone has some good info about this. Thanks
While we're at it drop that wildly successful public library system...We wouldn't want people learning critical thinking skills.....(Tongue VERY firmly in cheek.)
And when you don't feel like mowing your yard, maybe the gov't can create a social welfare program for that too. And how about when you don't want to work...the gov't can create a program to pay you for that...oh wait...they already have that one.
Where do you draw the line on gov't assistance? Nothing that the gov't provides is free...NOTHING. Keep creating new programs...keep taking more money out of your paycheck until nothing is left. Then you will be 100% dependent on the federal gov't. This is exactly what Obama and the other socialist-liberals in Congress want.
I am not against programs into which everyone pays, but I am against some people paying and some not. I'm not even saying that each person should have to pay equally, but EVERY person should pay SOMETHING.
Your money would be better spent if you just went to your local hospital and made a donation to their accounts receivable.
Maybe Kaiser considers my problem non-urgent. It may be. I am just annoyed by the constant numbness and according to WebMD taking to much time to fix it can cause nerve damage which is making me nervous.I pay a LOT for my insurance. I should get immediate care. Otherwise, why am I paying so much for it???
The great thing about this situation is that, if you're unhappy with Kaiser, you're free to move on down the road and find a company that's more sympathetic to your cause.

Where are you from...
First, unless i quit my job I am required to CONTINUE paying for my insurance at work until the next benefits election time.
Then I will have to get private insurance which will cost significantly more than my insurance.
Great thing? ROFL
Different states have different programs for food stamps...however, in the state where I live, food stamps covered limited items such as milk. You were SOL if you were lactose intolerant. It would also cover fruit juice (loaded with sugar), but wouldn't cover fresh veggies and fruits. There wasn't any substitutions for ethnic dietary practices (such as rice, corn, etc). If you were breastfeeding, you got an extra 2 cans of canned tuna per week.Junk food is quick, cheap, and has a long shelf life. You don't have to cut potato chips, you don't have to wash ice cream, and you don't have to cook McDonalds.
I try to eat organic and the cost is OUTRAGEOUS. One pound of organic chicken is anywhere from $6-$8 bucks. Organic bananas are $0.50-$0.75 cents a piece. Eating healthy (and truly eating healthy, not just buying "real fruit juice") gets expensive very fast. Its my opinion that "healthy" food is organic foods with high nutritional quality (how healthy are strawberries covered in pesticides anyways). So yes, eating healthy is more expensive than eating junk food.
You are refering to what sounds like WIC. I have never heard of a food stamp program that limits your purchase of any food. Nearly 15 years ago my family was on food stamps for about three months and we were free to buy any item excluding candy, alcohol and other non food items.

Hey, you make your choices, and you deal with the consequences. You live in a free market society. If you're not happy with your provider, it's not the government's job to come bail you out and pat your behind and make everything cozy.
If we had the government program you're cheering for, you wouldn't have any chance at all of going somewhere else to expedite your care, unless you wanted to pay out of pocket or go to another country...like some Canadians apparently do.
Work with several doctors and nurses from Canada that left because of the healthcare system there. That should be a wake up call, not a reason to move forward towards universal healthcare.IMO

There are also many Americans that have moved to Canada for the same reasons. This is not US vs Them and who is the best but what is best for our citizens. There are many types of universal healthcare systems and to use Canada as the only example is like looking only at Ford's when you go to buy a car.

The one example of social medicine in America, the VA, outperforms the majority of private healthcare systems around the world. Including ours...
If you are going to make an argument, back it up by facts, not personal biases... :)
A 30 year old single woman who doesn't make enough to support herself sure shouldn't be getting pregnant. Her lack of personal responsibility doesn't entitle her to anything, in my mind, except maybe a 2nd job.Pregnancy isn't some disease she catches off of a dirty commode seat.
You are right..I made a mistake..I should have had a darn abortion and punish my child for making a mistake(I dont think of her as a mistake..I am truly blessed!).
But since I did have her...Let me quit nursing school...and get a second job, so I can pay even more in daycare because someone has to watch her for 16 hours a day while I work in a job that does not offer insurance..and good god if she gets sick, I'll just let her die...because then I will not only make too much in the eyes of government for her to get medical care and the day care. Hmm ok...let's say I work 2 jobs...paid 9/hr...Daycare charges 12$ an hour....YOU DO the math.
I'm tired of self righteous people who never make any wrong decisions in their life, slamming those who have made one wrong decision. :bow:Let me bow down to you for being perfect!
I am a smart individual. I have a degree already in CIS, and a business college degree in Accounting, but can not find a job to save my life. How foolish of me, asking for a little bit of help while I finish nursing school, so I CAN get out from under the system. Even the smartest of people make a wrong decision in their life...There is no reason to punish my child for my wrong decisions!
BTW..I dont know where you are at and the economy is...but jobs are just not being handed out on the streets...at least not ones that pay enough to support a family or offer health insurance.
(just a side...I was being VERY sarcastic about the abortion...I am so glad that to have my daughter...especially against the physicians belief I would never be able to have children.)
