will universal healthcare ( in the usa) cut RN pay?
And when you don't feel like mowing your yard, maybe the gov't can create a social welfare program for that too. And how about when you don't want to work...the gov't can create a program to pay you for that...oh wait...they already have that one. Where do you draw the line on gov't assistance? Nothing that the gov't provides is free...NOTHING. Keep creating new programs...keep taking more money out of your paycheck until nothing is left. Then you will be 100% dependent on the federal gov't. This is exactly what Obama and the other socialist-liberals in Congress want. I am not against programs into which everyone pays, but I am against some people paying and some not. I'm not even saying that each person should have to pay equally, but EVERY person should pay SOMETHING. Your money would be better spent if you just went to your local hospital and made a donation to their accounts receivable.

Those are the reasons that I am going into nursing. Nurses are empathetic. They devote their time, energy and resources to helping others. That's the job of nurses, not the government. Government involvement only hinders progress...it never promotes it.

Sorry, that post for AdvocateforSafety...those who rely on government to take of them become slaves of the government.

The day MAY come that I need help but I will NEVER need help from the government and I will NEVER need your help. You are not my brother and you are not my keeper.

I agree with the statement that those who don't wish to change will eventually die. If we don't change the course that this country has been put on by the socialist-liberals then we soon will be living in the "Former USA". Socialism, eventually, fails everywhere.

In a universal health system, the care for those who do not take care of themselves is paid for by those who do. The wages of healthcare workers WILL go down....steadily, as the system grows more and more bloated each and every year. Add to that the money that will be taken out or your check to pay for the system AND the increase in prices you will have to deal with when the Messiah raises taxes on businesses. With all that said, I agree with an earlier poster that regardless of who is president, universal healthcare in this country will never be seen.

Notebook or Flash Cards?
I have started doing flash cards on my Ipod Touch. You can go to www.flashmybrain.com, they have a program that makes it easy to create your own flashcards. I make different cardsets for each class and I always have them with me in my shirt pocket. Just a thought.

I got all black Nike Shox at the Finish Line at Broadway Square Mall. They are pretty pricey and after an 8 hour clinical in the ER I don't think they are any better than any other shoe. I'll go cheaper next. As far as programs for the PDA, I have Epocrates on my Touch right now but haven't tried it out yet. I haven't really looked at many of the programs yet.

Hey guys, I'm starting this Fall at TJC too. I was beginning to think that there were no TJC students on this forum as well. I'm really excited but also really nervous. I'm gonna be using my Ipod Touch as a PDA. I have a Palm TX but the Touch is much easier to use. I think i'm also going to look at digital voice recorders for taping lectures. I've heard there are programs that will transcribe the digital recordings on your pc. I've never recorded lectures before but I think I'll give it a try. Look forward to meeting everyone and getting a good study group started.
