Are the programs you're trying out for a BSN? Try a community college for your associate's. In Tucson, you only need to complete the prereqs (with passing grades, of course), with the only grade requirement being a B average in your A&P courses. It may be different where you live. With an ADN, you can easily work for a hospital that will pay for you tuition to get a BSN.

Maybe try an online program? Just ideas. I hope this helps!! Best of luck!!

The RN program that I am in was selected on an encompassing score card. WE had to take an entrance exam called the NLN exam(Maximum score is a 160 I believe and there are study guides available for it). The minimum to get in was a 90 (80 for the LPN). But you also got points for required classes that you had already taken. And people who already took the CNA class and worked as a CNA somewhere got credits for that too and they didn't have to take the skills 1 class(2 less credit hours your first semester). Our program is only a two year program and then it is only 1 year after that to a BSN. *Also, you might need to take some recreational classes to raise your GPA like bowling or golf(most of the time you get an A for attending all the classes). Need any more advice just ask.

I know you're a bit discouraged right now, but don't give up. You might try getting some face time with an admissions rep to get any suggestions that they might offer so you could put your energy in the right place.

Step back and assess all your options first. Feeling hopeless can leave one with the sense that there are no options, when in fact there are. Take a deep breath, relax. If you speak with an admissions representative, keep a notebook with notes on the information that is provided. It is easy to forget.

There is no reason to retake any prereqs.

thank you all so much!

well i got the e-mail back from the admin lady (for the rn program) she said the reason i didnt make it in is b/c my reading score on the net exam was too low... which really stinks cause i just ran out of time! im not stupid i swear! lol

it was my first time taking it and didnt know what to expect!

so i feel a little bit better knowing that it was not because of my gpa...

i will find out at the end of this week if i made the lvn program! cross your fingers for me!

You will do great! That happened to me the first time too, my reading score was too low. The next time I tried to be much more relaxed and did a whole lot better. Keep us updated!!

For sure. When I took the test, I had to use the restroom and I didn't think that they would let me leave and come back and touch my test, so I didn't so as well as I had hoped to. You will be okay; remember that we all had to start somewhere.

Good Luck! I'm sure you will make it!

Good luck with everything!! I went the PN route just so I could get my foot in the door, and maybe make it easier to bridge to RN!!

If it makes you feel any better I know someone who works in the nursing program at my local Community College and you know how many people applied to the RN program last semester alone:

637!!!!!:eek::eek:

oh and btw they only accept 30!

That is friekin Crazy! They told me that people with STRAIGHT A's didn't even get in!! There was supposedly people lined up outside the Admissions office TWO days in Advance. Some diehard People were friekin sleeping at the school, so that they could be first in line. Security was there and allowed them to stay in a secure area and gave them "official" line numbers so no one tried to cut. lol. Getting into the program is based on Grades, but if everyone has straight A's then it's based on who turned theres in first. Imagine, not getting in with straight A's, because you weren't willing to sleep in line!!

That is how felt. I applied to the nursing program three times, and I had a GPA of 3.5 unweighted. It sucked big time. The last time I applied, I applied to the following programs: LPN, CNA, Surgical tech, EMT, and a whole bunch of other things, and I got into the nursing program.

You will make it when you make it. Don't overstress about it! And if all you have to do it retake the test. I would just retake the test and not start LPN school. Just my 2 cents.
