Why are they called "Chucks?"

And can't we use a more appropriate and universally understood name for, "Chucks?"

Laypeople usually have NO idea what a "Chuck" is. Having to describe them by functionality in order to explain it by definition to a patient, family or outside support staff is just, well ... crude & is always kinda awkward, Lol.

Any better suited name recommendations for our beloved Chucks, so that we can all understand exactly what it is by its own self-descriptive term? ;) Thanks AN!

:x3: I may never recover from embarrassment of my mispelling, CHUX :roflmao:

Y'all are TOO funny on here! Love ya AN

I agree. When I started my nursing I was like "What is a chuck?" Now that I have a full understanding, it's tedious trying to explain to a lay person what this is.

Because Bob's Big Boys has a patent on that name, so chux it is

I want to know where to get the "Body Size" chux that the trauma nurse mentioned in this thread earlier.

What color are they and what would they be called?

Just call them "underpads" and make it good. What ever they are called it doesn't matter really, however you could tell lay people that when they are soiled they get chucked, so that is why they are called chucks. Hee Hee.

They have the brand printed on the non-absorbent side, but I can't remember what they say! LOL, as many times as I have seen them. I will find out for you.

Could it be because it would sound worse to call them sops or splats? I am sorry, I couldn't resist!
