Who's going to Anesthesia school?

Published

We've had several threads from everyone saying they were accepted to various schools, but if everyone is willing let's do one big thread for everyone that will be starting anesthesia school this summer or fall. If you don't mind please include where you applied, the status from each school ( meaning didn't get an interview, interviewed and not accepted/made alternate/accepted), and the school you chose and why. Thanks, so much!

I applied to :

1) Medical College of Georgia- interviewed and made alternate

2) Samford (in Birmingham)- interviewed and accepted

3) University of Alabama at Birmingham- interviewed and accepted and will be going there this fall. I chose UAB because I loved the Director and all of their clinicals are in Birmingham, so I won't have to travel all over the state.

Arkansas State - applied, interviewed, accepted will attend in Jan '06.

Texas weslyan - applied, no interview "lack of ICU experience"

I only applied to these schools with plans of applying to more if not accepted.........

N OOOOO!!!

not umdnj!!!

well, if it's newark, i heard they're not as bad, but stratford's school is down right horrid! my friend goes there and it has been nothing but a night mare for her and her classmates! she hired a lawyer and is even suing umdnj!

everyone knows in southern nj that umdnj's graduate programs in stratford are the WORST! the school is 5 miles from me and even if i got a complete scholarship to go there for my master's, i wouldn't!

yep, that bad!

Arkansas State University, I heard great things about ASU's program and it's director. I'll start Jan of 2006.

I interviewed and was accepted at Samuel Merrit in Oakland, CA. Woo!

Specializes in MICU.

Applied to two schools accepted to both, will make a final decision in a couple of days.

Texas Wesleyan, phase II site of Texas Health Sciences Center Lubbock, TX

Texas Christian, phase II at Harris Methodist Fort Worth, TX

couln't imagine applying to more than two or three schools, to me, it would be a waste of time, money, effort. Your either in, or out, and in the end everyone takes the same certification exam, and even after that, no one ten years from now will as, what did you score on your certification exam?

I've developed some plus and minus for each program, now its just which one will fit me the best. If anyone has any personal experience about the clinical sites, would be happy to listen.

Congrats to everyone, the easy part is over.

I will be attending the Newark program.

But i would have gone any place that accepted me and try to make the best out of it.

Accepted to Texas Wesleyan and am going to start August 2005!

Jennie

I'm no longer on the alternate list at Samuel Merritt . . . I'M IN!!!! California here I come!

Texas Christian University. Start August, 2005.

:rotfl: This is my first post, although I do catch this site every now and then.

I only applied to two programs, both in my home state of Michigan.

University of Detroit-interviewed-alternate

University of Michigan-interviewed-accepted-I'll be there this August!!!!!!

U of MI was my first choice, so I feel blessed. It is closer to home, so I can travel home more often. It is a 24 months program. It also has a small class size, 15-20 students. I can't wait.
