Who Wants To Share Exp- LPN to RN with EC

Published

Just enrolled at EC & trying to gather information about what to do first, how many weeks in-between exams taking & if you study from sauders or used the study guide 101 ect..... However, i am getting overwhelmed with my searching. So I'm asking if anyone who wants to share their journey with me from start to finish. I'm a new grad with my lpn so alot of information is still fresh & I want to just jump into it.

Sort of a newbie myself. But I am interested in the responses you get. For me, I've only taken H&S, Transitions, LS1. All of my prereqs were met with CLEP, Straighterline, DSST, EC exams and only 2 courses were traditional B&M courses, but still online. For HS and transitions, I used SG101. Actually I glanced over HS and basically took it on a whim and passed. LS1 I took earlier this week and passed with a C, but still a pass. I studied Cardio a lot because I like Cardio. I used Saunders and the practice exams, more so on the practice exams.

I am a firm believer in the EC practice exams.....firm, firm, firm....get my point. Every little bit helps in this journey and the practice exams are very important in your success. I tested 2 weeks in between each subject with exception to LS1, I had taken a 2 month break from study and then just studied about 3 weeks for LS1. I am trying to get back in the groove of every 2-3 weeks so I can get done soon.

Good luck with your studies.

Hi, I just started too in September, I am taking Transitions, I am using the study guide and the rented the three recommended textbooks listed in the study guide to study from. I broke it down into 4 units that I am studying from. Hope this helps. also you can message an advisor any time on the EC website.

Thank you Nervous1! The practice exams seems very helpful. Like you, I also am fascinated with cardio. I'm going to order SG101. Good luck on this journey you can do it!

Mandylpn thank you too! I will stay posted and hope you both will. Let's do this together!

I'm kinda worried and really regret not being able to do the practice exam for transitions. couldnt fit it into my budget this month but will definatly do for the others.

Hey sondon i'm a newbie as well to EC. i'm taking my first exam transitions on monday. do like the others said and take the practice exams. i didnt for transitions but will for the rest of the exams. i done some of the required reading and got study guide 101. i'm hoping to take at least 1 test a month. would like to do 2 but have to see how it goes.

Good luck lets all support each other. :)

I highly recommend studygroup101.com. Some people can rush through the courses, for me I found I did better if I took more time between exams. However, I work full-time, night shift 11p - 7a and I have 4 children ages 9 to 15 months. I started the program in September 08 and am just finishing up now.

I only did the practice exam for the management class because I had a lot of difficulty with that one.

I missed that you could get study material for ea. exam for Excelsior, it is $180 per exam and I missed that you could look up study buddies in your area. I wish I had known because I would have taken advantage of it.

I started in August I had all the prereqs from Community college and EC exams. I passed H&S last month and I passed Repro Today :yeah: :). I am taking Transitions next Saturday. Then Chronicity and LS1 in November. LS2 and LS3 in December to complete all the reqirements before FCCA and CPNE . I use Saunders, love Studygroup 101, practice exams, and the content guide w/ my old LPN books. I am loving the experience thus far because it is truly unique .

Best of Luck to you !!!

What exactly is EC? Is this an online program for LPN to RN?

EC is Excelsior college. They offer an online program for LPN to RN, they also offer Paramedic to RN. and RN to BSN. RN to MSN.

I would caution you- Don't want to rain on your parade, but EC is a program where you NEED clinical hospital experience. Do you live in a state where they still allow LPNs to work in one? If so, I would recommend working there to gain experience- You pick up a lot of skills you will need to pass the NCLEX and practice as a nurse. Nursing homes and MD offices are not really great for learning all of the skills you will need (IVs, NG tubes, chest tubes, ect.) Good luck!

I'm a RT that is doing EC. Had to take a year off due to illness & am just getting back into the swing of things. I use Saunders & the required text. I have Lisa Arends & studygroup but discovered using someone else's notes don't do that well for me. I will keep them as back ups. I take the required readings and assign myself readings each day. I also use flash cards found online. I wish I could do a test in 2-3 weeks but I still don't feel like I have a good enough gasp of how EC works to do that yet. Good luck to you!
