Who is waiting for a letter from OCC?

Published

Who is waiting to hear from Oakland Community College about acceptance into the 2009 ADN program (either accelerated if it's offered or traditional)? I hope we find out before the date listed on the website (March 15)....which would mean we would have to get something in the mail by Saturday, 3/14!

When is the letter due by? I haven't gotten it since I'm going to school in Ann Arbor, and my dad has work after the postmen come. I don't know what to do - and I'm pretty sure I got in because my GPA was 3.95 :(

AnnieMC - Your dad can pick-up the letter @ the post office listed on your certified mail receipt left in your mail box :)

I decided to take the traditional track! Accelerated just didnt seem right for me. I turned in my letter to the office today, she said she would be mailing me some info in a few weeks! ahhhh more waiting! haa

did u take the accelerated program? did they give you a gpa ranking? is it really that difficult? Thanks

Now that we're in, does anyone know what the next step is? I am guessing there is an orientation soon but there is nothing on the web site that I can find. I am hoping it is soon so I know how to get ready over the next few months. I hear this is going to take over our life.

hi everyone!! congrats to all!! i took the traditional track, i have a family and a job. :wink2: i called the office to verify they received my letter back and she said that after the deadline to return your letters (today) that they would be mailing out some info asap because those of us who want to take pharm in the spring need to get the ball rolling. i have been told that the orientation meeting isn't until june-anyone know if that is true? i know we have to get a physical, a drug test, a criminal background check and get fingerprinted. if anyone else has any info please let me know too!!!!!

I did traditional. Our GPA cutoff last year was 3.612 after the 60 extra seats for accelerated we made available. It isn't that the material is necessarily super difficult, we are held to an 80% standard and the problem with that is that there is no padding in the grading scale. For instance in lab last semester we only had about 52 ponits in total and so you could only get 10 points wrong all semester. This rotation we have quizes worth 5 and 16 points, just to pass you need a 4 and a minimum of 13. There is just not much room for error and so one bad day can really hurt you. It is not immpossible though I got an A- in fundamentals and an A last rotation. Good luck and lemme know is you have any other questions!

Yup, I called OCC this morning. I'm hoping to get into the accel. program, too. I have a 3.75--so we'll see!

I think I have a 3.78 - let's hope we both get in!!! I wonder if the packet will be sent certified mail...

What is everyone doing to prepare?!?! I am really nervous about the 80% requirement.
