Who is waiting to hear from Oakland Community College about acceptance into the 2009 ADN program (either accelerated if it's offered or traditional)? I hope we find out before the date listed on the website (March 15)....which would mean we would have to get something in the mail by Saturday, 3/14!

I am trying to get as much of my June 13th wedding planned as possible, in case I get accepted into the accelerated program! :)

logique-I don't think that it would be certified. Are you already studying? What are u studying? Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Thank you! I am very excited! :)

I took a Patient Care Tech class in Jan/Feb of this year. I learned how to make beds (occupied and unoccupied), measure i/o's, transfer patients, position patients, feed patients, take vitals (still not very good with bp!!), bed baths, peri care, and a lot of other basic patient care skills we will be learning in Foundations! I also had 2 weeks of clinical time on a hospital floor - about 50 hours with the class. The class was a great head start! I will also be learning how to do BGM in my PCT orientation in a week. I haven't really studied anything else - I want to buy the Fluids & Electrolytes Made Easy (I forgot the exact title of the book) that is recommended on the boards. Have you been looking over any material?

Wow, you've done a lot! I haven't done anything yet!

Congrats on getting married!! I was planning on getting the fluid and electrolyte book too! I worked as a Patient Care Associate at POH for about a year, so I have learned most of the things that you did in that class. I have the NCLEX Review Incredibly Easy book. I have not looked at it much, but I plan to use it once in the program to help with practice questions. Lately, I have been studying in my "Barron's Nursing School Entrance Exams" book to refresh on Math, English, and Science skills before taking the NET.

:nurse: soooo excited to start this journey!

I currently work as a nursing assistant at a hospital and i've been there for almost 2 years. I am very blessed to have this job since it is going to be easier for me once we start doing clinicals. I even work with OU, OCC, Baker and U of DM nursing students while they do clinicals on my floor. I am so excited to start in the fall! yay!

I wonder if we will get our info packets tomorrow...

I got mail!!! just includes info about criminal background check and that we need to have.. also an EMS class that we are required to take. Vaccines and when we would prefer to take Pharm!

The cut off for the accelerated is 3.868. I'm in the traditional.

Gosh darnit - looks like I will be in the traditional too :( Oh well - at least I am in!
