Who hires Everest Graduates

Published

Hello, I am looking into Everest College and their RN program in Henderson,NV. Does anyone have experience with the hiring of new nurses from Everest College. How are they regarded?

Love to hear any feedback. I am 45 years old and Id wish I graduate from a university like UNLV but I don't have that kind of time on my side.

Thank you.

I've heard A LOT of negative stuff about Everest and nothing good. Few people actually make it through any of their programs because of the astronomical cost and very high instructor turnover. REALLY REALLY do your research before you invest that kind of money. Also, if you want to further your education later, be aware that most classes through Everest and similar tech schools are not transferrable.

45, in the nursing world, ain't that old. :) In my class of 23, there were probably 3 or 4 people of that age and older. You'll see plenty of 45+ nursing students here as well.

It's worth doing your research and considering UNLV or a local community college.

I agree. Do your research first and only look into Everest college if last resort. I work at a behaviorial psych hospital, and two Everest college RN's did get hired. One girl is still there going on two years. The other girl stayed for year and applied at an acute care hopsital and now works in ER. I did one of the girls was this her first job and for how long searching for work. She said yes its her first job and got this job four months after gradution.

Don't do it. PLEASE don't do it. You will be in debt for the rest of your life. It's not worth it. Anything worth having is worth working for.

Please do not go to one of those for profit colleges. It is a waste of time and money. I am 38. There are people over 50 in my classes. Do not let your age deter you.

I signed up at Everest 10 years ago. After 30 days of classes I had an A in the class and I had not even taken the plastic binding off my book. The teachers were horrible and in that 30 day period we have watched movies, did art projects, and class was canceled at least twice because there was no teacher. I didn't learn a single thing. I came to the conclusion that they were not there to teach, they were there to babysit and sign certificates of completion. I withdrew from the school and decided to go somewhere that I might actually learn. They claimed I owed them over $2,800 for those 30 days. They are crooks and in the business of selling worthless degrees. If they already have your phone number, you may need to block there calls because they do not let up once they have your contact info. Please run as far and as fast as you can from Everest.

I heard a similar story from a friend who attended (the first part of) their massage program at another campus. No instructor several times, curriculum completely changing because of new instructors, and charging an arm and a leg for courses that weren't even fully offered. He withdrew with about $14K in debt and no licensure.

Wow. Yeah I agree about blocking your number. I was once interested in a private school for a lvn program and I gave my info and told them ill think about it. Well I guess it didn't register b/c they kepted calling me everyday nonstop. Then just one day, they stopped calling lol. I learned my lesson.

Thank you for that!

Thats so scary, I think I have dodged a bullet. I made the decision 2 days before orientation to not attend. Thank you all for the input.

Everest is now a non-issue. Corinthian Colleges, parent company of Everest is now defunct (For-Profit School Was Cash-Strapped When U.S. Cut Funds - WSJ). Campuses are in the process of closure. Some may be resurrected under new ownership.

One down . . .

Wow! I feel bad for their current students and the ones that will have to try and get a refund from them.

Here is another news story on it. For-profit Corinthian Colleges to sell 85 schools, close 12 others - Los Angeles Times
