Seeing that some of us had a bad first week is starting to make me nervous! Who had a good first week? What did you do? What are you learning? We don't start clinicals until Oct. I hope they teach us as much as possible before then, so I'll feel a bit more confident!!! :)

I think I will have my nail cutting ceremony tonight & get it over with. It will be sooo sad! I had to have my hair trimmed so it wouldn't touch my collar when it is in a pony tail. I wish I knew what books I needed for the first day of class. I hope they don't expect me to bring all of them on the first day. I would need atleast 2 book bags to carry them! :)

Tell me about it! This is a very traditional school and evidently some few with poor taste made it bad for the rest of us and the administration felt it necessary to initiate a new policy which is identical to the hospital's dress code for its employees. I love my Birkenstock sandals and denim. Oh well, I can look like a regular person on the weekends!

Carleigh.. I would definately go buy some scrubs.. :) At least they are comfortable..

My first week went well... We are going over Catherization and Dressing changes right now.... It still amazes me how much stuff they can throw at you during the first week.. :)

Catherization! Gosh, I thought the first week would be bed baths & making beds! How naive I was huh?

Wow---I thought the first week would only cover things like hand washing! --How much do they throw at you the first week? Like how many chapters?

Our first week we're doing a proficiency exam in lab where you're tested on IM injections, sterile dressing changes, and catheterization of a female patient.

Then we move on to this semester stuff.... care of a central line, trach care/suctioning, IVs and blood draws....

Julie, I think you are the most excited person about school that I have ever seen! I hope I love nursing classes as much as you do. I can't believe that you are ready to go again, this soon after graduation.

It is great to know that it can be fun! Thanks! :D
