Who has an ASN to Nurse Practioner program?

Published

Any help is needed, I've searched and searches and found nothing.

you prob. have to go BSN to NP

When I was looking for ASN-NP programs, I was looking for online programs (since none were local). Graceland University and Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing have online ASN-NP programs... and the Frontier one isn't only for midwives, they have a NP route too.

of course y'all know i'm not a rn yet..but how does this work i mean do we have to research if the board accepts frontier or graceland...i'm kinda confused when we get to the out of state np programs..

there are lots of options. just keep searching. some universities are online, and some are local brick/mortar. in my area there are two major programs that offer an adn to msn/fnp track. i am about 7 months away from completing my bsn/msn from graceland. i also looked at frontier. both are old programs. frontier's program is actually historic. read up on frontier. it is very interesting. the one minus against frontier (and this could have changed so check) is that with their program you don't get a bsn, only an msn. that is how it was back in 2006. again, that could have changed. when i graduate from graceland i will actually get both my bsn and msn on the same day.

i would check any university that offers a msn/fnp program. many of those could have an adn to msn route. begin by going directly to their websites. the other option would be to do an adn to bsn then on to either an msn or directly to dnp.

to my knowledge, all of the states require training at an accredited university (both graceland and frontier are accredited) and then passing your boards. currently there are two accrediting agencies that cover family nurse practitioner (ancc and aanp), and i am unaware of either certifying agency not accepting the training of graceland or frontier.

thank you. i did some research on the subject but still am not confident in my self to make any educational decisions. my plan was to do the rn to bsn then try to get into utmb's (university of texas medical branch galvesten) online program ...i am finishing up my last requirement, stats then will look into getting this started..of course after i pass my boards..

I know this is a year old - but in case anyone is still looking..

Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX has a RN-MSN bridge program for people with ADN. A good chunk of it is online, but license and clinicals have to be done in TX, so it's not a good choice if you're far out of state.

what is Gracelands website?

do you have to be an RN for a length of time before you can apply? I know fronteir you have to work as an RN for at least one year to be accepted.
