-------------------------

Thank you for your interest in USA College of Nursing. For your

convenience, we have placed detailed information regarding our programs,

tuition, admission requirements, application information, etc. on our

main MSN website: http://www.southalabama.edu/nursing/msn.html

Please keep in mind that we only allow students who are accepted into

the program to take any of our courses due to how full our program has

become. Meaning that we do not take Non-degree students nor provisional

students any longer.

New York and Pennsylvania residents only:

We have recently been notified by your state*s Higher Education Board

that all education programs including online programs must have approval

by this board prior to citizens from your state enrolling in a program.

Unfortunately, this means that we are unable to accept your application

for the MSN program here at USA College of Nursing until we obtain

approval to offer our program in your state. We sincerely apologize for

this inconvenience. If you have any questions at all, please do not

hesitate to contact me.

Applying:

USA CON no longer requires the GRE or MAT for graduate admission.

Please see the following application information:

Deadlines:

Summer 2012 - February 1st - The applications will be posted in

October.

Fall 2012 - April 1st - The applications will be posted in October.

Spring 2012 - September 1st - no longer accepting applications. You

will be notified of acceptance by November.

The College of Nursing has revised their application process beginning

with the Spring 2012 term.

Spring 2012 - Beginning this term, applicants will no longer apply

through the Office of Admissions by completing a Graduate Admissions

application and submitting official transcripts. The application process

will continue to be a two part process, only students will apply through

NursingCAS and USA College of Nursing. Applications are now posted on

the following website for students to view:

http://www.southalabama.edu/nursing/msn.html click on the blue

button entitled "MSN Application" to navigate to the Admissions web

page. Please read the Primary Application and Supplemental Application

instructions thoroughly prior to completing these applications.

Admission to the Graduate program is limited and highly selective, with

FNP being our most competitive. Students are admitted each semester as

space is available in the selected specialty track. Prospective

students are responsible for ensuring that all required forms are

received by the deadline for the semester they wish to enroll. Only

completed files will be reviewed and considered for admission.

Pertaining to work hours, normally we do not make recommendations to

students for the amount of hours to work outside of their clinicals and

course work. Many of our students do choose to work full-time or

part-time while achieving their graduate degree.

For our program, you are required to have 2 years of work experience in

your patient population by the time you begin your clinicals. If you

question your experience, please contact your track coordinator.

There will be an orientation typically in the start of your second year

in the program before you start your specialty courses that last from 2

to 5 days, and your track coordinator will give you more information on

that as the time approaches.

Transfer Credits:

At this time, USA*s policy indicates that up to 9 graduate credit

hours may be transferred to the MSN program. Upon applying to the

University and if you are accepted, you will have the opportunity to

submit syllabi for the courses you wish to have considered for transfer.

Students are typically notified of their transfer decisions within 3

weeks. In the event that courses are accepted, we will omit the

equivalent MSN courses from your degree plan.

Post-Master*s Students Only:

Students who already have a Master of Science in Nursing may qualify

for the post-master*s certificate track. For more information about

post-master admission requirements, please visit our main website listed

above, and click on Post-Master*s Certification. Students are

required to have taken or plan to take the following three

prerequisites: Adv. Patho-physiology, Adv. Pharmacology, and Adv.

Health Assessment Across the Lifespan. Students who have already taken

the above three prerequisites, should plan to apply for a Fall term, as

clinical and specialty courses only begin each Fall. Students who have

not taken any or all of the above prerequisites should contact the

Graduate Department for advisement on what term to apply:

[email protected] .

The cost of our course is $413 per credit hour, and you can find our

curriculums on our College of Nursing website.

If there are additional questions you may have, please let me know.

Sincerely,

The Graduate Studies Department
