Who all is applying this semester for Fall 2006?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I have all my pre-req's done for the BSN program and am applying this semester (we have till the end of Dec). My GPA is good, science GPA excellent so I am keeping my fingers crosses I can get in.

I'm already getting nervous about it all though!

At my school we have to take 3 pre-nursing classes before we enter the program so in the Spring I am taking (and am excited about them):

Fundamentals of Nursing and Lab

Intro to Nursing and

Development Across the Lifespan (or something like that).

We don't find out if we are accepted until March....long wait.

Applying. Officially petition after I retake the NET. In Minneapolis, my hometown, the community college is full until 2008!!!! :smackingf

Are you willing to wait that long? I don't know if I could stand it.

We are able to apply in May for the Fall 2006 year. Seems like a long time to wait to apply. I just hope I do okay in my pre-reqs.

Hi Guys!!

Working on my application that's due Nov. 1 for early decision. I'll know Dec. 15th either way. **gets down on knees**

If accepted, will start next September. :)

I'm sending off my app in March for Fall 2006. I'm so Excited! I'll be taking 2 or three classes in the spring, then I'm taking a nice long vacation until August. Good luck to everyone! :D

I plan on applying to Spring 2006 and Fall 2006 start dates. May applications are due anywhere from November through March.

Most or all of my prereqs will be done this semester. I might have to take an ethics class, a math class, or some nursing classes. It depends on the school I'm applying to.

I'm curious... from skimming through most of the responses, it reads like people are concentrating on applying to one school. Possibly the school they are taking the prereqs at. I've noticed people say that if they don't get into nursing school this coming term, they won't know what to do.

What I'm wondering is why don't you apply to more than one nursing program? The more you apply to the better chances of getting into one. I'm applying to several places. In Michigan and the surrounding midwest states.

I realize that some people have obligations to stay in their location so you need to go to that particular school in your area. That's fine, but is that the case for eveyone?

Also I could be misinterpretting what is being written so I just think it seems that most people are applying to one school.

I was just curious.

I may put my app in at some other schools, but there are only a few I am willing to go to. I am at a University and just hoping all goes well there with the nursing program. The CC's seems to have long wait lists.

Hi Fugitive!!

I know everyone will probably think I'm crazy for this (I know I think I am! :p)

I am just applying to one. I'm from Louisiana, but going for Johns Hopkins. I've wanted to go there for nursing school almost as long as I've been wanting to be a nurse--more than a year now. It's probably going to sound corny and cliched, but all I heard growing up was "You can be anything you want to be." "Go for your dreams." Well, I never did. I figure it's never too late, and I'm going to go for it. I figure if I don't get in, I'll take the year off (I graduate with my BS in Psych in the Spring) to make money and then apply again next fall. Okay, I SAAAAY this, but if I don't get in this go around, I will really be heartbroken and depressed. I found out Tuesday there are ONE THOUSAND applicants for ONE HUNDRED FIFTY seats. **thud**

I guess I should clarify my position.

I've already graduated and have my BA.

The schools I'm applying for have accerelated nursing programs.

I foolishly made the assupstion that people were in the same position that I'm in or similar because from what I've noticed, most people on here are not in their 20s (or maybe upper 20s).

It makes sense that if you're a regular undergrad, that you would most likely only apply to one school. That school being where you are taking your prereq classes.

But I guess if that's not the case, then that is where my previous question would come into play.

Well, I'm pushing this thread off topic so just ignore me. Haha!

All I have to say about that is HOLY CRAP!

Hi. No, when I'm talking about JHU, I'm talking about accelerated as well.

I'm just stubborn. :p

I applied last year for fall '05 although I knew I wouldn't get in because I wouldn't have accumulated enough points yet. I did manage to make the alternate list, which gave me more confidence about getting in for fall '06. I have to wait until April or May to find out for sure, but I should be in the ADN program at my community college this time next year. :D
