Who all is applying this semester for Fall 2006?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I have all my pre-req's done for the BSN program and am applying this semester (we have till the end of Dec). My GPA is good, science GPA excellent so I am keeping my fingers crosses I can get in.

I'm already getting nervous about it all though!

At my school we have to take 3 pre-nursing classes before we enter the program so in the Spring I am taking (and am excited about them):

Fundamentals of Nursing and Lab

Intro to Nursing and

Development Across the Lifespan (or something like that).

We don't find out if we are accepted until March....long wait.

I will be applying in the Spring semester, and hopefully starting in Fall of 06. My school goes by a point system so GPA doesn't really matter, so I hope that I have enough "points" to get in, but most people dont get in on the first try, but they do at least give you 10 points for applying. Oh and Im getting my AS

I don't know if it is the same where you are, but where I applied was based on a points system as well and the GPA is added into your points. For instance, if you have a 3.0 Gpa you may get like 7 points for that. 3.8 may get 10 points and a 4.0 may get 20 points. You also get points for you high school GPA, your ACT score (the higher the score, the higher the points) etc... You may want to check to be sure they don't require a certain GPA. Good luck to you. :)

What I'm wondering is why don't you apply to more than one nursing program? The more you apply to the better chances of getting into one. I'm applying to several places.

Also I could be misinterpretting what is being written so I just think it seems that most people are applying to one school.

I was just curious.

I'm applying to 5 different schools here in Oklahoma City area. I am guessing that the majority of us are applying to more than 1 school.

I've only applied to one school. If I had been in a hurry to get in, I'd have applied to a couple more. The school I go to awards points based on GPA and credit hours. I have a 4.0 and more points now than I need to get in so I should be good for '06. The school is small so they only accept new students in the program once a year.

I'm about to write my application essay tonight. I have to turn in the whole application by next Saturday. I'm applying to school. of nurs. @ university of illinois @ chicago (except I'm specifically applying for their branch in urbana-champaign). If I get it in by next weekend then I'm considered in the early decision pool & will know by 12/15 if I'm in or not. I feel better knowing sooner than later so I can start preparing for the program. I'm not too nervous about getting in, I'm more excited than anything else.

Good luck to all of you! :D
