Who is applying into George Mason Traditional program for fall 2015

Published

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to start this thread, so that prospective applicants to the nursing program can share our ideas and journey.

Thanks:)

who else has taken the Hesi exam?

Missycarlious, thanks!

I liked the SU. The atmosphere was great and the calculated cost didn't sound too bad. My classmate and I went there with no appointment and received a very warm welcome from all staff members in the admissions office, starting with a parking lot. They evaluated transcripts, answered questions and gave us admission fee waivers.

Marymount was alright. I attended the info session and then had a one-on-one session with one of the counselors. The info session was informative, but the counselor was impersonal. I was surprised to find out they don't have any prerecs for the traditional path. The cost is astronomical. Admission waiver arrived in the email the following day.

Both schools require TEAS.

So, now I'm debating on what to do in the Spring.

I can take 4 classes which fulfill the requirements for all three schools (GMU, SU, and NVCC).

Or drop 2, get a CNA job and hope that GMU takes me. Because I'm so awesome.

Lol, well I think you need to have a back up.. so its advisable to take 4 classes that satisfies all 3 schools to be on a safer side. When are you taking your Hesi or you already did?

Dec 29.

If GMU doesn't take me, I can try NVCC. Get an associates degree and then my employer will pay for the BSN. Again, because I'm so awesome.

If NVCC doesn't take me for some reason, I can take whatever is missing and apply to SU and other schools in the following Spring.

That's what I'm tempted to do.

I know it's smarter to have a backup. But I think it's essential to get clinical experience. (and I need money)

Hi lanekone, that is another good plan. I understand you should do what will benefit you the most. How is your preparation of the Hesi coming along? Kindly let me know after you write yours.. share your thoughts:(.. I am finding it a bit hard to study

I mentioned that mine is in less than two weeks?

I'm just starting (and starting to freak out too), but I worry more about timing than the material on the test. I'm kinda slow when it comes to test taking. (I think, I mentioned that too ))

What is your studying strategy? I'm just about to open the book and start reading it and writing down whatever I need to memorize. When I'm done with that, I'll switch to my other book for additional vocab/exercises and then check Quizlet. I'll go section by section.

Hi Lanekone, how was your Hesi test?

Hi Missycarlious,

I'm taking it on Monday

:bookworm:

cool, goodluck on it.. let me know what happens afterwards

Thanks!

When is yours? Did you apply?

not yet.. I am waiting to write mine on tuesday.. then i can concentrate on applying. Have you applied?
