Hi Everyone,
I wanted to start this thread, so that prospective applicants to the nursing program can share our ideas and journey.
Thanks:)

I'm thinking about it. I'm finishing up my pre-reqs right now at NVCC and am debating on if I want to go ahead and apply to their ADN program or just go and apply to the BSN program at GMU. If I go with GMU I'll have even more prereqs to finish so I'm debating.
Hi muldrowtl,
Thanks for sharing your insights. I really agree that you need to think about it carefully. However, I would like to know if you only did pre-reqs for nvcc? Because you wrote that if you go with GMU then it means you need to complete more pre-reqs. Do you have a second back-up? knowing how nvcc program is competitive, what if you don't get selected, What will be your second choice. I think to be safe, its better if you complete all the pre-reqs for most schools, since it cuts across then you are rest assured that you can apply to most schools.
So far, by the end of Fall, I will have completed Phy I &II and Microbiology. I will graduate with an Associates of Science in May. To get into the NVCC program I only NEED those three to apply to their program. For GMU, from what I've read I have a couple of Core prereqs I need to complete like psychology and statistics(which I planned to take come Jan). I'm also looking at other universities as well. It's just so hard in trying to decide what path to take. Regardless, I should be done with all prereqs for most universities by March so we shall see.
That is great to know. However, you need only 2 sciences of the 3 to apply for Mason. Also the application for Mason comes out in Dec 17 to Jan 17. you can complete all the core reqs in spring. All you have to do is to add your registration for spring to your admission packet. I know it is hard to decide, but I hope you are able to decide soon. Let me know if you need any help:)
Thank you so much for the info. It's been so confusing and frustrating. Thank you!
you welcome. I forgot to also let you know that Mason now requires HESI A2 which is a pre nursing entrance exam. However, they do not require a specific pass score. I am trying to study for that as well...smh too much to do in a short time

Hi there. I'm also going to apply to GMU Nursing School for Fall 2015. I'll be done with the prereq in Spring 2014 at NVCC. This semester I'm taking MTH 241 and BIO 142, last prereq for GMU is BIO 150 next semester. I'm going to apply but according to the lady I spoke to during the information session it's unlikely I'll get in due to having an F in MTH 241 the first time. Kinda frustrated but oh well. Going to apply there Marymount, Stratford and Chamberlain. Hopefully I'll get my testing organized in time...
Hi TMontee85,
I must say I am impressed with your determination to apply to GMU. who knows what can happen. Do not let the lady you spoke to discourage you. at least it doesn't hurt to apply. I would be applying to other schools as well. but i still need to figure out which ones. Good luck :)

Have any of you guys taken your hesi?!?! I'm so bummed, my cumulative was an 88.8, I'm hoping my gpa will help me!
Hi Neen04
I am planning on writing it in December, i feel i am still not prepared for it,because at the moment I am taking my microbiology class and its draining. I think 88.8 isnt bad and surely it isnt the only form of criteria they will watch. so do not worry about it. If I may ask how was the test? and how long did it take for you to receive your results also if I may ask what is your current gpa?
It wasn't bad, I'm just terrible at grammar! They give you your results, and they're online (the part mason wants.) It took me about 3 hours I believe. Currently I have a 3.82 gpa, and I work in a pharmacy and have a ridiculous amount of medical experience, so if they did base it off the hesi alone, I would be soooooo surprised! It just sucks because there are so many questions they can ask (especially for a&p) that it's impossible to be completely prepared.
