Prospective ABSN student. Thinking about GMU vs. Marymount
I love biology too. A&P is not hard, certainly not for a Bio major, unless it is an upper level class and/or you have a crazy professor. I took some online and hybrid classes at NVCC, but preferred all my science classes to be in-person. My A&P professor was the best teacher I have ever had in my life. That is one thing I do not like about Mason - I expected better quality teaching. Some instructors are excellent but not the others.

Take it with Dr. Burton at NVCC. It's a fun class, you will learn a lot and will get an A, provided you put some effort into your studies. She offers a ton of extra credit.

I'll tell you what: if I had the money, I would go to Shenandoah University. I went there to talk to a counsellor, and they made a very good impression on me. However, I got accepted to GMU and will be finishing my junior year in the next 7 weeks. I did take CHM 111 for other schools I was planning to apply to as backup, and it didn't hurt a bit. Moreover, it made my transcript look more competitive. My advice is - take the chem, apply everywhere, and decide upon admission.

Michelle, From my understanding, they are giving accepted applicants until April 20th to sign the contract and pay the deposit. Those who applied to multiple schools may drop at this point. The deposit is due on June 15 and not refundable after this date. Again, some people may drop before or even after the deadline. Additionally, the office of admissions reserves the right to reconsider their decisions upon receiving final grades for the Spring semester and fulfillments of the terms of the contract. Good luck!

To those on the waitlist - I wish you best of luck! I'm thinking of going to GMU on Thursday to talk to my counsellor, register for the English class and get familiar with the campus. Did you guys physically sign your agreement? I can't check the third box with "Admission to George Mason by June 15, 2015" although I have been granted the general admission. Also, while it it does allow me to sign the document electronically the font is odd. Should I just print it, sign and scan it?

So far, TEAS has been so much fun for me. I'm studying with a friend, and we keep each other on track. I like that we're brushing up on the basic math and grammar and kinda glad we are not using calculators. I've been wanting to do that, but never had time. I haven't been thinking about April at all. I don't even know why!

Hey, Everything is fine, thanks! I'm working, taking 3 classes and studying for TEAS. I received the GMU acceptance letter (General) about a month ago. I couldn't attend an info session. So when I got an email on 03/01 saying that I had to add GMU to my FAFSA, and the deadline was.. 03/01 it was a surprise. I rushed home after work and submitted it at 11:35 :) Did you add GMU to your FAFSA? Work is fine. I enjoy working with the elderly, and it certainly is a great experience. On the negative side, I feel like I hit a plateau pretty quickly. The place is an assisted living facility with the majority of the residents being independent and/or being able to bear weight. I know that working in nursing homes is more challenging. I had my clinicals in a nursing home and I saw some diffucult cases which required a great deal of physical and psychological strength. Where I work, nobody tries to hit me, nobody yells at me, and I rarely have problems with showers. I used hoyer lift just once and learned how to change ostomy appliance. There are moments when I have to deploy and apply all my patience, but they are rare. Not that I want to be hit (now that I said that I feel like somebody is gonna try to hit me hehe). It's just kinda easy once you learn your routine and thus a bit boring. I try to compensate communicating with the residents as much as possible, doing extra, working fast, working efficiently, multitasking when possible, etc. I keep myself busy, but I do more than required of me. Anyway, I am very grateful to my employer. They hired me with zero experience. My mother is not afraid to get old anymore )) Most of my coworkers are great. I really really want to work in a hospital and now that I have something on my resume it is just about the time to start looking again. Hmmm... )) What about you? When are you taking your next TEAS?
