While browsing the job listings on indeed

One can't help but wonder why so many hospitals are ridiculous enough to even mention that a BSN is "preferred" or "required" when you are so desperate you have resorted to hiring LPN's in the hospital again, and even LPN's don't want to work there.  I hope this is either an oversight or an outdated job listing that needs to be revised but nobody has done it because everybody in HR quit?  All nurses are fantastic in my opinion no matter what your title is, but job listings like this are almost insulting.  "We can't get traveling nurses to work at our hospital for more than 2 weeks for $125/hr, but we want to pay staff nurses $1.75/hr and require a BSN, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, PEARS, NRP, TNCC, CCRN, and 20 years of bedside experience."  Mmmkay.  Let us know how it works out.  Nobody will apply.  Boohoo.

Mcdonald's pays better than nursing does and if you screw something up, nobody usually dies.  Make them another burger, and give them a free medium fry and a gift card.

Id like to know which mcd’s pays more than 15 bucks an hour????sign me up!(actually worked 3 yrs for them in the 80’s) LOL

I suspect the BSN thing is wishful thinking, virtue signaling for Magnet Status and fossilized bureaucratic requirements.

I think about things like this when I got the list of requirements I would need for BSN clinicals this semester. One was a TB skin test. I suspect the test was a requirement added in the 1990s and never re-examined. My hospital doesn't even do annual TB tests anymore, and haven't for years. Bureaucratic fossilization would mean convening endless meetings to determine if changes are needed, and I suppose it is easier to keep ignoring reality.

I called a local company with HUGE signing bonuses posted with some jobs. I offered to work PRN for them on a specific unit. They declined. Go figure? Even those full time employees are going to need time off!

I'll bet you can get more money on your side of the mountains?

Job listings like that remind me of unrealistic dating profiles. "Very ordinary person seeking absolute perfection"
