Which NCLEX review books are worth the $$?

I took the Kaplan course and it helped me a lot. I passed the first time with just 76 questions.

Hi all!
I am starting my ADN program next month. I am looking into picking up a review book or two for the NCLEX for RN. Does anyone have suggestions? There are so many books? Kaplin? Lippincott? Saunders? AHHH!

I suggest you use the Saunders NCLEX throughout school and take questions on what your tests are going to cover. The CD and book is organized by sections. This helped me immensely in being prepared for the NCLEX right after graduation. I took NCLEX on the first day it was possible to do so and passed with minimum questions.

I used Saunders Comprehensive Review throughout nursing school and found it extremely helpful. My hospital paid for the Kaplan review class and I thought their review book was helpful as well.

We were required to purchase the mini Lippincott review books - they were good for information and had about 300 each, decent review questions. I also found the Straight A's questions and a whole bunch more through Lippincott's website that I could download for free. Our textbook also came with access to a lot of really good questions as well.

I used Saunders and NCLEX Made Easy to study for tests because those are broken down into the category and it made it easy to find and study questions before I tested. Near the end of school I was doing well over 800 questions for each unit we tested on and it really seemed to help put all the info together.

Kaplan is good but it will come in more handy at the end of the program when it's time to put it all together. It has a lot more complex questions that really do not make sense until the end.

Whatever you do, I would suggest you study and practice all your tests on computer as much as possible so you can get used to what it will be like when you take the NCLEX.

I bought them all; I was soooo desperate but I have to agree with anyone who chose Saunders. It was great while in school and the CD-ROM is what I studied to take the NCLEX. I kept it and still refer to it. The outline format is awesome. Another book I would recommend that I used in my 4th semester is Pass CCRN. Great outline format as well and most of my classmates followed my lead and bought it as well. It helped us get through the critical care in the 4th semster along with the required text. I have every book that has been suggested in this thread and I'd say while in school, Sanuder's is great to study from and use the CD for quizzing yourself.

Lippincott's is just questions, but it is good to practice qusetions from.

I think it'd be better to wait and use Kaplan in your last semester to prepare for the NCLEX since it is the one that specifically is geared toward NCLEX prep and the questions are mainly priority and they literally have four right answers and you have to pick it out.
