Wheres everyone at?

Hi, my name is Mary, a long time Okie, and a 40year mother of 2 applying to nursing school. I was SO excited to find this board. I thought wow, finally I can chat with people who live around me and maybe can be of some help and form some friendships. Also hoping I could find someone in my area that's been in my shoes, out of school for 20 years, applying to now go to nursing school. So, please tell me there are more nurses in OK than this. Just wondered where everyone was at.

I live in SW OKC and go to Rose State at present. I will be getting my AA degree this semester and am applying to OU Nursing in Janurary for the fall.

I am 30 years old and have been married for almost 10 years. My husband works at the OUHSC. We also have two girls ages 6 and almost 3.

Hi marilyn!

I too live in OKC. It's weird- I worked for OU at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation at the OUHSC in 1997. It's great down there. I am applying to OU for 2006. Right now taking independent study of Nutrition and Dev. Psych thru OU and next spring will take A&P at OKCCC. I't going well so far. although it's been 11 years since I've been in a classroom as a student---I'm a little nervous about A&P-excited too.

~~my kiddos are 7 and 4!~~I was a SAHM until last year when I started working part-time at the kids' school library- it's fun, just not my true calling...I've always been drawn to the medical field. I thought about PA or med school, but after some soul searching I feel like nursing is the right path.

You said you are planning to apply to OU this January. Are you going to the Appplication Seminar next week? If you don't already know about it, hop on www.ouhsc.edu and go to college of nursing. You can register there, just click on the "2nd Annual Application Seminar" logo. They're suppossed to go thru the app and have a lot of suggestions, tips, etc on how to make a wonderful application. My counselor at OU/ Nursing told me that a bunch of people are not even considered because their app is incomplete or has mistakes! Their grades/qualifications are not even looked at! I would just die of I got cut because I left a line blank!!! Even though I will not apply this year--I'm going to the seminar I want to get as much info as I can. Hope you can make it!

I'm glad we're not competing against each other this year!:p
