I need to learn to be a little bit more laid back during clinical. I am so uptight and worried about making a mistake, but this attitude interferes with learning. I need to continue to prepare diligently, but I need to act a little calmer and relax my body posture in practice. This will allow me to feel more natural with patients. Also, if I'm not so caught up with my own concerns, I might actually listen to patients more effectively. A laid back attitude will also facilitate the higher quality care that I desire so much!

I am the most laid back person in the world lol, and uh I got a negative comment from my instructor 2 semesters ago she said " oh. You're doing a great job with meds and patient care timemgmt & charting but ive heard from 1 or 2 nurses that you're too laid back, & that makes you look cocky"
Uh what >.

Thanks for the warning Pneumothorax.... It's definitely a balance that I am looking for here... My confidence level in practice is so low, it's actually annoying... and interferes with my ability to provide the highest care possible. (i.e. trying to perfect everything leads to a slow, inefficient pace.... it also makes things less natural). At the same time, I need to approach everything with a degree of intellectual humility (b/c I do not know everything) and a bit of fear (to avoid mistakes).... just not so much!
