Where are the least complex patients?

The least complex would be in a rehab or LTC facility. They're stable, need only routine medical care and meds, and they rarely crash on you.

I don't think there's a clear cut answer to that. I'm a new grad as well and decided to start in CCU. So far, I've enjoyed it and have learned a TON with a ton MORE to learn.

If learning time management is a priority for you, maybe try med-surg first. Time managment was one of my weaker areas though too when I started, and I've improved that area in the CCU. I think the answer just depends on who you are and what you want to get yourself into first. The thought of juggling 5-7 patients scared me more than the thought of juggling 2 patients, even though, in general, they have more complex histories and pathological processes going on.

Pick an area and go with it. If worst comes to worst, you can always change where you want to go in nursing. Good luck to you.

It seems to me that each area of nursing has its own kind of complexity.

Being in an office would probably offer the least acute complexity, but more chronic complexity.

I work in acute rehab, we have complex patients, and they do crash at times... they are supposed to be medically stable, but lots of times they are sent to us very sick...

in my opinion and experience, it would have to be the mr/dd population in the community setting who are least complex. i deal with 5 patients and have 4-5 direct care staff to assist me.
