Where are all the hispanic nurses?

I'm Puerto Rican from New York City. I not a nurse yet but I am starting my prerequisites on Monday. I am finishing up an CNA class in two weeks. Glad you started this but wonder how many will respond. Keep in touch!

My grandmother on my mothers side came from Isaba ,Spain, and my grandfather from Uruguay. We spoke Spanish in my home when I was a child. I'm working on trying to remember it, as I am not around anyone on a regular basis who speaks it. My other side is pure Hungarian.

Hola,

I am from Mexico and work as a staff nurse, med tech and a part time home health nurse. I have been a nurse for three years and a med tech for twenty. I am married to a second generation Hispanic so Spanish is the first language at home; therefore all my kids (3) are bilingual. Me da mucho gusto conocer a otros Latinos en este medio.

I am dani. Soy puertoriquena. I am an RN from hartford CT. I was an LPN until just this year and I work in a rehab. Soon I will be starting at hartford hospital on the women's health floor. I don't know about california, but in CT there are not too many hispanic nurses. Most of the latinas that go into healthcare over here are either nurses aids or medical assistants. I am Dani. I am also puertorican. I was born in the bronx and lived there till I was 8 years old. Since then I have lived in Hartford, CT. I am an RN, but I was a CNA and then an LPN before becoming an RN so anyone can do it! Good luck to you! :nurse: Dani

I am going to need to request that you follow the TOS of this website, which is that all posts are in English. I can read and write Spanish but it is not fair to any of the other languages, where moderators do not speak the language. We have this policy so that nurses from all over the world can read and participate, and by using Spanish, you are excluding some nurses.

We are an American-based site, so ask that you do use English for all of your postings. :)

I was born in Los Angeles, California. My parents are from Guatemala. My dad is from La Capital and my mom is from Esquintla. The last time I went to visit was????? ummm???? hmmmmm, wow it's been that long. I think 6 years. But i do want to go back and visit.

Nice to meet ya'. Im so glad you got your RN. Im on the waiting list at Cerritos College in California. I was hoping to get in for the Fall semester in 2005, but my number wasn't picked. So hopefully in Spring 2006!

I usually get floated to Rehab. I used to like going there, until I hurt my back so i refuse going there. So word of advise........be carefull sweety!

I live in Orange County, California. Five minutes away from Disney Land and Knotts Berry Farm!!!!
