VA Hiring Process: Referral Email, How long is the wait?
Applying for a job a the VA is a long process. It depends on the closure date and the date that you applied. In general I would say you may know in 2-3 weeks after closing. That email is the first step but it does not mean that you automatically will be called for interview. Expect a second email for status of application. They will call you for interview it you qualify, then you will have to wait a few weeks to hear about it. If you get selected you will be called by Human Resources. If you dont get the call, you will get an email that will tell you somebody else was selected. I dont want to discourage you, it just takes forever... But if you get the job, you will see it was worth the wait. The whole process could take about 1 month. Good luck!

moving to Texas, which city is better? Houston, Dallas, or San Antonio?
I just visited San Antonio this past week and I loved the place, is very cheap, you can find a house within that price range in the northwest and southwest, very close to medical center. Plus is a beatiful area. Poki

I have never worked there, but I had a friend who worked there and she said it was nice. The only thing she did not like was the fact that it's a very small town.

What???? $16, or less than 20. NEVER..NO NO.. With nursing shortage hospitals should be paying more. If you go PRN that's much more. In South FLA average is with min experience around 23 full time employee. In Crestview.. PRN pays around 26 I heard when I worked over there.

What is your best tips for new grads starting on med-surg
Get your own routine for your shift and try it for a couple of days if it doesn't work well then go for another way to do your things on a timely manner..keep it up. I've an RN for less than 2 years and still trying to set up my routine.. Always carry your book and always ASK. Make sure you take care of YOUR pt's first. Don't hesitate to ask for help when in a hurry or PRN. Good luck!
