I am just begining with EC and I was looking to get a post going with any other new EC students wanting to share. I'm not looking to set up a formal study group just a chance for any interested EC students to find others who may be working on the same NC. I am starting with NC1 and then MAYBE micro, depends on how strong I feel :)

NC3-7 left for me. After a slow start, about 7 weeks per class. I have finally gotten it down to four. Seems to be the right speed for me, although I have heard of some knocking them out at two week intervals. The micro to me was not as intense as the A&P, A&P was memorization, micro was more deductive as in the NC's. My goal is Atlanta by the end of next spring.
As much as I would love to finish before I have to renew again in July, I'm going to need every bit of the standard waiting period and then some to prepare for the CPNE.
laurie888, i have heard that they will waive your ssaf if the only thing you have left is your cpne-if you are already on the list to take it and everything else is finished that is. so i would think that you will be done with you last tests before then and be on the waiting list right?? so hopefully, no ssaf!:)

Student annual fee.
It would be nice if it were waived but somehow that still doesn't seem likely. Seeing that there appears to be closer to a 6 month waiting period (which I'll need!) it's going to be August anyway so September or October won't matter -- gives me more breathing room actually.
And now I'm seeing that you don't get the forms for 6-8 weeks after you become eligible to take the CPNE anyway so don't know what I was thinking, that I'd be able to take it 5 months after the CPNE when it is more like 7 or 8??
I have to keep reminding myself not to be in a rush, I'll be done by December which was my original goal anyway.
Okay, can someone please tell me when one is qualified to register to take the cpne. Do all the nursing concept exams need to be completed before registering for the cpne?
Wow, I cannot believe that there is a 7-8 mos waiting period for the cpne. That's a little discouraging. I guess that is another way to make money if students have to pay the student services fee while waiting to take the cpne.

You have to complete your nursing exams and be within 9 credits of your other requirements. I'm not sure what the truth is, but if it is 6-8 weeks to get notification of eligibility (i've heard it doesn't really take that long) and 4-6 months (depends partly on the site you pick, the mid-west sites look like 6 months at the moment, others as little as 4) it COULD take a max of 8 or as little as 5 months -- and there are always the cancellation dates that get you in earilier.
For me, I will need that time to shadow some nurses, take workshops, brush up on skills, find a way to work as a CNA and get closer to patient care again (have been trying for a year for the md. bon to tell me what I need to practice as a student at excelsior and have gotten nowhere).
I know that when I take an exam I usually have updated trancripts inside of a month, so maybe it doesn't really take that long to be notified of eligibility.
