I respected your opinion and the opinion of others here in the forum, I'm hoping that you'd also respect mine. I also hope that you carefully read the advice that I gave(if you didn't, please take your time to review it again)and from that you will see that it is not limited to prayer. Prayer comes first, because for me, it should be on top of everything else. It helped me really and I share this to this person who asked for help.
Everyone has a choice whether to follow or not the statements given by people here in the forum. I just want to help this person who asked help and if you didn't appreciate what I did, it's your problem; I didn't step on your right. As a Christian, I believe I did the right thing of spreading God's word as part of my call being a Roman Catholic nurse.

I'm protestant myself, (though oddly enough, I actually went to a number of private catholic schools in my young years) I'm a firm believer, and certainly believe in the power of prayer. I didn't mean for my post to insinuate otherwise.

I always said a prayer before ever test -and gave thanks after every test (and then crossed my fingers and hoped I didn't forget anything -grin -I won't deny keeping a lucky mechanical pencil in my pocket either).

Okay, then can you please clarify your response to my post earlier? :confused: I'm not sure if it was just me who misundertood(maybe there are others too), but it would greatly help if you can explain as to why you have come up with such response to my earlier post. :cool:

I don't believe in luck; :nono: it contradicts and undermines your faith in God. Faith in God should be without any reservation, no doubts. I'll see if I can find the passage that deals against the use of luck(because it is considered to be under the power of evil), I've read it somewhere in the Bible. :cool:

John, after re-reading my post, I can see how it came across. All I can say is that it is not the way I had intended it at the time. I certainly should have taken more care in how I crafted my words. As for the 'luck' -I never intend THAT kind of reference to be serious -certainly not as a substitute for study. However, I cannot deny that certain objects or repetition often give comfort -I expect it has to do with familiarity. But in all honesty, I certainly don't subscribe to "luck" as a 'real force' of any kind or nature.

As regards real life happenings, however, I certainly put my lot in with Jesus Christ as my lord and savior. Back in early '01 I was hit nearly head-on by a drunk (I was on my iron horse) -it wrecked my bike, tossing me some 30' from where the bike lay, and the drunk left me for dead. I doubt seriously he ever knew he hit me. My surviving that was not 'luck' or 'fate', but I do belive I was being watched over -thankfully some stranger was directed to my accident (this was after nightfall) and this person found me, and called for help -he did stay until help arrived, and then left.

THAT is something I truly credit the Lord for.

1.) Leviticus 19:31 -> Leviticus 20:6

2.) Deuteronomy 18:10

3.) 1 Chronicles 10:13-14

It's okay, no problem. :cool: Sometimes, we really miss out details, that's normal after all, we're just humans, hehe, capable of making errors(no one is immune against it, hehe, hits me all the time). :cool: I recall a famous saying in school that says, "An error doesn't become a mistake until one refuses to correct it."

As with luck, okay, so now I understand how you used it. Thank you for the explanation. You were meaning to say that luck is as an object that you're comfortable/familiar with, :typing however, for clarity's sake, I suggest that you should not equate luck with such connotation as you might be misinterpreted.:wink2:

Gromit I read your ideas and have a question. I have the Saunders review book with the CD. Do you recommend going through each chapter and doing questions on the disk at the same time or do one at a time. I know you said to do questions in review mode. I agree, not seeing the answer right away is frustrating. I am about to take the test for the third time. I am giving myself 2-3 months to study before I do. I want to complete the Saunders first. I've done the review classes, exam cram, disk questions thousands of them, you name it. The only thing I didn't do was take pharm in college it was optional but strongly advised and I didn't. I had a lot of med questions on my test any suggestions there?? Thanks

No, whatever is comfortable for you should do fine. I didn't do it that way. I lumped all of the questions in one big pile, and just did some every day when I had free time (or until my eyes began to glaze over, and I wasn't retaining -then it was time for a break, and I'd continue the next day or when I felt 'ready') -as for the book, I just went through it from front to back -much the same way -do it until you get tired, then stop. You will be surprised at how fast you can actually get through all of it. But if you find that you're forcing yourself, you won't retain it, you will be frustrated and annoyed, and thats just not good on any level.

Of course, you must do it the way you feel most comfortable -if doing it chapter and system (matching the disk to the book) is what makes you comfortable, then by all means, thats the way to go. I'm kind of a strange guy when it comes to study habits -I don't know of anyone who does it quite the way I do.

I just find 'my way' and run with it. I recall back in the early '90s (91, I think) when I was taking my paramedics course. The teach had a particular formula that he taught for figuring drug dosages and drip rates. I could never do it his way (never felt comfortable, and my results were inconsistent) -but I did come up with my own way, and my results were always dead-on (and I still use it when I have to figure out concentrations) -he was one of those who made you show your work. I of course, drew out my formula, then showed my work. He asked me once where I came up with it, that it didn't really work right for him -to me, its simple. I showed him what I was doing. He was a good teach. He smiled and told me that so long as my numbers kept coming out right, I could use what I wanted.

So long as you cover the material, you will do just fine.

It really surprised me how similar the review was to the real test.
First time I went in, I was nervous, and was so sure I'd blown the test that I was nearly in tears (not an easy thing for a big biker to admit, I tell you) -I was so upset that I went out of the pearson-vue building, sat on my motorcycle, and knocked back a few long-necks that were chilled nicely in my saddlebag. A guard actually came out of the building, as the sun was setting (I took the 'late' test) and started walking toward me (yeah, I know about the legal issues I was busily fracturing) -he stopped about 50' away, as I turned my head and stared at him. My face must have been an open book. He just turned around and walked back inside. I sat there until it got dark, then rode home. I can't recall ever being so distraught.
After the second test, though, I never even doubted I'd passed. I couldn't WAIT to get the results on the computer (paid the extra bread to get the early result). Excited doesn't even cover it.
Either way, I'm glad I don't have to mess with THAT test again. Of all the licensing exams I've had to take over the years, that one was probably the most nerve-wracking one.

I can say that I can appreciate Saunders more now that it is over than before. That was a nerve wracking exam!! I took NCLEX-PN and it was VERY difficult for me...I can imagine what NCLEX-RN was. All I hear from both, LPN and RN is that they all got meds that they never heard of in life. That was certainly my experience.
