  1. That is how I felt totoroRN.. I did thousands of questions and didn't feel like any of them were like the ones on the NCLEX. Maybe a few.. This test is hard going back for my third time
  2. Gromit I read your ideas and have a question. I have the Saunders review book with the CD. Do you recommend going through each chapter and doing questions on the disk at the same time or do one at a time. I know you said to do questions in review mode. I agree, not seeing the answer right away is frustrating. I am about to take the test for the third time. I am giving myself 2-3 months to study before I do. I want to complete the Saunders first. I've done the review classes, exam cram, disk questions thousands of them, you name it. The only thing I didn't do was take pharm in college it was optional but strongly advised and I didn't. I had a lot of med questions on my test any suggestions there?? Thanks
  3. 1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 265 2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? Saunders, Drexel, Strategies for success, thousands of review questions with rationale, reviewing content and a review course. 3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? ???? 4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? Took the test on a Thursday found out on Saturday morning online 5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? Certainty that I failed 6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? No Second, and I did fail, going in for round 3 not for awhile though. Gotta get my head together. Good Luck to all those who are about to take the test and who are waiting for their results:)
  4. I took the nclex twice and both times got all 265 questions, and failed both times I am going in for round three.. wish me luck.. My girlfriend got all 265 and passed.
  5. I agree with you Lester...I took the exam twice now myself and failed. I am going for my third try. What keeps me going is knowing all the sleepless nites I had during nursing school and all that work during school, after all that, I am NOT giving up. However, I am waiting at this point due to too much going on in the family right now. I have lost two family members and now, one is in the hospital dying at age 43. I know that to truly concentrate on studying I need to deal with one thing at a time. Right now my loyalties lie with my family. When things settle down then I will go for it again. Its either 3 times a charm, or 3 strikes and I am out but still going back for more. It is hard to see everyone around you passing, and your left thinking why can't I??? Believe me been down that road. My best advice is: Keep your head up. Keep studying. Clear your plate, and your mind and focus. Don't give up..Soon we will all be posting I AM AN RN.... and this will all be a memory, and not one of your patients is going to ask you, How many times did you take the NCLEX?? Remember that...
  6. Ya know what bugs a "phrase" , here it goes: It's the same difference" How can it be the same difference???? Its either the same or different.
  7. While working as a GN, everyone wore scrubs. We can't wear all black, that is the only rule. I would bring a change of clothes to work because I drove an hour. I didn't like the thought of sitting in the car for an hour, after working with patients on vents, with traches, and a lot of other ewww's in my scrubs, or shoes. I would change. I think hospitals should provide locker rooms with showers, so that people could clean up before going home. Lord knows we all don't want to bring germs home. What bothers me is going into a patients room and touching the siderail, after realizing the nurse before, while doing a dressing change leaving a little something behind. The rail was gross, and unbeknownest to me I touched it. Lesson learned> Don't touch anything without gloves.
  8. Hi everybody, I have 2 quick questions. I have taken my boards twice. On the results they send me, there are 8 categories and it shows whether you are below passing standard, near the passing standard, or above the passing standard. My first results were 7 of them were near the passing standard, and one was below the passing standard. My second attempt results, all 8 categories said, near the passing standard. Here's the question: Does near the passing standard mean that I am not even close to passing??? And, if I did really well in any of the 8 areas, would it say on the results Above passing standard? SO confused. Second question: Can I review my test anywhere online or through pearson vue? A friend said that she saw it somewhere but didn't remember where. Thanks Guys.
  9. Hey girl I to failed the nclex for the second time. There was only one other person in my class that failed as well and passed on her second time. I am taking a break for awhile. I too am nervous about the nclex in April. I thought well if I couldn't pass it now, when they do that I'll never pass it. I emailed one of my professors and she is going to help me get a work/study program started, that is where I am at. I am not giving up, nor should you. One of the best nurses I know took the exam 4 times before she passed you wouldn't know it though. When your start your job no one is going to ask how many times you took your boards. I am going for round 3 as I call it, but when I am ready. I have the Saunders book and also watching drexel its DVD's, and meeting with my professor. Take your time though we will get through this.
  10. Thank you everyone. I just spent the day with my sister in law at the hospital. We had a family meeting and the doctor said his exact words were, I give her six months but that is a long time. None of us took the news too good. A lot of crying today. I am not going to take the nclex again until things settle down. Thank you for all your kind words and encouragement I truly appreciate it.
  11. Thank you Bebe for the encouragement.
  12. I just wanted to say thank you to those who responded to "So Upset". A lot had happened before I took the test. Last month my Mother in law passed she had Stage 4 Lung Cancer so that was so hard for my husband and family. My brother's wife is now in the hospital, she as well was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, but just suffered a stroke due to blood clots in the brain. She was on a drug Evastin?? Don't know if I spelled that right but that is what they think may have caused the blood clots. So just before my test I was not in a good place. The first time I took the test is when they were diagnosed and before the second one my mother in law passed and my brother's wife is now in the hospital. I took my test on Thursday she went in on Wednesday. So its been an emotional rollercoaster for me, and finding out I failed the boards was just another blow. I truly appreciate the support I have gotten here, for letting me vent, and all the advice that you all so kindly gave.. So thank you Bee
  13. I failed twice so far.. Now from reading your post the nclex is getting harder??? OMG.. I don't know how to study for this.. I have done everything. Taken my time.. I just found out today that I failed for the second time.. So discouraged.. I feel your pain girl.. I guess we just have to hang in there..
  14. I just took the NCLEX for the second time and failed.. I do not know what to do.. I studied so hard both times. Everyone tells me "You know the information", but obviously I don't cause I failed again. I hear that doing suzannes plan works. About to try anything at this point. All my friends have passed their exam and I am soooo happy for them. I just want to be happy for myself. Last time I failed I got so depressed. I am trying to keep my head up but its hard. I got all 265 questions both times. The results that they sent me had 8 categories. 7/8 I got near passing standard (Does that mean I didn't pass at all??) and in one I was below passing standard. Haven't got my results for the second test yet, just found out today that I failed. Any help out there???
