Where can a 60 year old nurse get new training???!!!

Published

Will someone please tell me where I can get trained in a hospital setting. I have not worked in the hospital since 1999! I took a refresher course at the end of 2009, with the hopes of going back to NICU, but I am almost 60 and being turned down by everyone!

I never thought that a nurse with fifteen years of experience would be looking a no job! market. It hurts to be put out to pasture. From BSN to Wal Mart!!!

Specializes in Critical Care.

Where have you been working all this time? Were you doing direct care before? What happened with your prior job? How long have you been a nurse?

Just curious?

I would think they have nursing refresher courses at the local public community tech college that would be reasonable in price!

At my clinical I have seen seasoned RN/LVN at snf's and my previous dr that I worked for, his main endo nurse was in her 60's. If you have your BSN would you consider teaching? I know I would appreciate that... No more long wait lists to get in nursing school :-) I wish you the best. I'm sure you will find something good soon. Remember when one door closes a window opens up. Happy holidays!

I was in home health and hospice. I just do not want to do the driving anymore and the tedious paperwork! It was very draining emotionally as well as physically.

I have applied for a school nurse position. If God wants me back in nursing, He'll open the doors!

I don't have any idea..

Yours is great. School nurse. That's a great idea. For sure they get you.
