Where can I get male only patients?

Im a male CNA and I've worked In a facility where males were not even allowed to have female residents. If there were females in the assignment they would swap them for a male with a female CNA.

I've recently joined another facility and I don't think it's the same.

For religious reasons I cannot do females.

I cannot understand how, in a non life/death situation, where a male and female CNA is available, a male CNA is changing/toileting, cleaning and dressing a woman, while on the other side of the curtain, a woman is doing the same for a man. Thats crazy and there's no explanation for this.

Does anyone know any facilities in NYC or queens where they don't give male CNA's females?

I would try veterans affairs hospitals, I work there and 95% patients are male.

To the OP, there are options, though they may be hard to find.

There may be an all-male drug treatment facility/house. I know

such exists in my area.

There is also, as someone suggested, corrections. Working in an

all male prison. I almost had such a job, recently.

So is the issue the lack of memberes or the presence of lady partss? I mean, if the possessor of the lady parts identifies as male, is it OK? Or is the lack of a member a show stopper? Likewise, if the resident has a member and yet identifies es as a female, is that OK... so you don't have to consider that there might a lady parts or a privy parts or a mons pubis somewhere down there? Or is it those darn breasts? I mean the female ones, with the large areola and nipples. But then again, if the breasts are there, but there is still a member, then it's OK?

Or jeez, what about surgically created memberes? Are those suitable for you? Or what if there was a member that was surgically altered to become a lady parts? Would that be an issue? I mean, histologically, it's still member tissue, even if it's inverted.

Or is it those pesky chromosomes? Do you have a strong preference for Y chromosomes or is it just paired X's that are the issue? Then again, what if they're an XXY... they've got that Y chromosome that you find so essential and yet they've still got that extra X... quite the conundrum.

Admittedly, I'm being ridiculous.

I do not think it is ridiculous, myself. Truly, interacting with an unclothed

female might be strictly forbidden in the OP's religion, regardless of any

situation, except as mentioned before, a dire life threatening emergency.

Speaking short, what you want comes as close to "impossible" as it gets. If caring for female patients crosses your religious views, you might want to find another occupation.

Some very conservative branches of Islam (ex. Salafism), Judaism (ex. Ultra Orthodox and Hasidism), and Christianity don't allow unrelated males and females to mix at all. Ultra Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish men have made the news for refusing to sit next to women on planes. Some New York City public pools have been sued for holding single-sex swimming sessions.

Sitting next to a woman on a plane doesn't come up to the level of doing personal care on a female patient IMHO. But hey whatever.

The explanation is that it is care that is needed to be given and there is absolutely nothing sexual or inappropriate about it.

If you can't care for females you have chosen the wrong field. I advise you to find a job outside healthcare.

You might consider a state mental hospital or psychiatric unit as a mental health tech. While there will be both men and women there, you will not be doing things like assisting with bathing, dressing, toileting, etc. (with possibly a rare exception).

I find it ridiculous only because this is healthcare, and I don't find "I can't care for females" to be even slightly reasonable. I think if someone's religion is that stringent, choosing a career caring for patients who are overwhelmingly female was the wrong choice.

I also can't understand why any religion would forbid medical care to people who truly need it, but that's not the basis of my opinion.

I think back to previous jobs and the one I currently have and CNAs and nurses alike were needed and expected to care for all patients at all times. If someone needs something like restroom, brief change, etc. and you are available, you are expected to do it. To me it's not acceptable to be available to help but unwilling based on gender.

I'm a nurse at the VA. Most of are patients are male so you would be dealing with a very skewed population. However, our women Veteran's also have served this country and they deserve care from anybody that cashes a VA check. We don't get to pick and choose our patients for whatever reason. We treat the patient who needs our help first and all else is a distant second. I've never heard of a CNA working in a jail. Good Luck
