Does anyone know where I can find the old time nurses hat? I need it to take pictures after graduation.

Here's one link I found:

You should also check with your local uniform store. It's possible they might have it in stock, or are able to order it for you.

ask some of the older nurses you know...many still have theirs kicking around somewhere

Kays Caps has a good selection of caps, http://www.kayscaps.com/.

my cousin graduated last year and in her grad pic she is wearing the hat (like my mom had 30 years ago) i'm curious why have the hat in the photo when it's no longer worn?

I think I'm going to start wearing one. I always do on Halloween (my b-day) and my white dress and hose. Docs love it...other nurses hate it. I worked with a couple of nurses who wore their hats...one in full dress and stockings. She got quite the respect!! And she was YOUNG too.

(They are caps, not "hats".)

your program doesnt reguate what type of cap is required? I was always under the impression that every school had a different design...

That is how it worked traditionally, and, in many cases, you could tell immediately where someone went to school from her cap. However, a lot of newer nursing programs, established since the caps fell out of favor, haven't bothered with having a "school cap" (ditto for school pins).

Aww that stinks. My school never used them, but for graduation purposes we received them. I really looked forward to getting my cap and pin too!

Wait... are there really nurses who wear nursing caps and white dresses while working in the USA? I've never seen such a thing outside of black and white photos and fictional depictions of nurses.

I'd love to have cute young nurses running around in white uniforms if I were a doc, in the most prurient way possible, but are these things actually allowed in hospitals?

That said, It'd be fun to have a little white uniform for my grad party photos and Halloween.

for clinicals most students have to option to wear a dress.... but most pick the top and pants.

But yeah, if youre in school usually the uniform policy for 95% of schools are white scrubs.

I wore a dress 2 years ago when I was doing my LPN clinicals.... NEVER AGAIN! (It got in the way.)
