Don't they know they cannot leave unless you do?? Many of my friends have left work over the last 2 years. It's sad. You lose not only a friend, but a great coworker (sometimes those are even harder to come by). Luckily I have grown fond of some of their replacements. I hope you get another awesome coworker in their place. If not maybe you can be that person for someone else.

A good work friend of mine is leaving soon. It's really going to change the dynamics of work for me. I've leaned on her, she's a very loving, good person. We meet for breakfast occasionally, confide opinions and news with one another, and keep confidences. She's encouraged me a lot, she's a really steady, strong ally.
I'm sad to see her go, she's going to move out of state, so she's leaving for good.
We spend many hours with our coworkers, work becomes like a home away from home in some ways. Some of our coworkers we grow to love.
